Meg's All-Year Pride List | 2026 Pride Fundraiser

Meg's All-Year Pride List | 2026 Pride Fundraiser

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. In the United States the last Sunday in June was initially celebrated as "Gay Pride Day," but the actual day was flexible. In major cities across the nation the "day" soon grew to encompass a month-long series of events. Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts, and LGBTQ+ Pride Month events attract millions of participants around the world. Memorials are held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.

We recognize the importance of Pride Month but also want to celebrate pride and inclusion all year long. We expect everyone to be accepting and welcoming in our community and strive to have a comfortable shop and gaming space for everyone at any time. This list compiles some products that can reflect LGBTQ+ relationships, friendships, families, and in some cases the process of discovering who you are. For some young students interviewed, portrayals of minorities in the media not only affect how others see them, but it affects how they see themselves. Some students said that not seeing yourself represented in elements of pop culture can affect mental health. We are hoping to be the change we wish to see by carrying more comics, books, games, and art that reflects our community regardless or race, ethnicity, religion, neurodivergence, gender, or orientation. We plan to always stock products like these all year long and continue to support the LGBTQ+ community with a Pride Month Fundraiser event every year.

ACLU MISSOURI: The ACLU of Missouri works to ensure that Missouri's diverse LGBTQ+ community can live freely without discrimination and enjoy equal rights, personal autonomy, and freedom of expression and association. 217,000 people in Missouri are a part of the LGBTQ+ community, and over one-quarter of them are raising children. 61% of LGBTQ+ young people in Missouri experienced discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity in 2024. 38 anti-LGBTQ bills were introduced by Missouri lawmakers in 2025 alone. Most of them targeted the trans community. Through litigation, policy advocacy, public education, and organizing, the ACLU of Missouri works to defend the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, gender non-conforming, queer, and intersex (LGBTQ+) Missourians. For decades, the ACLU of Missouri has been at the forefront of protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ people in our state.
