Race for the Galaxy Xeno InvasionBuilding an empire is a hard day’s work all on its own, but try doing it with an evil alien race attacking you!  The most recent expansion set for Race for the Galaxy challenges you to do just that.  Xeno Invasion is two games in one box, including both new start world cards that can be added to the base game to expand play options along with the Invasion Game scenario that can be incorporated to up the difficulty.Secret Santa card game

Yes, we all know Christmas was nearly a month ago, but game distributors are a little less certain.  Hence, Secret Santa, a festive card game of competitive gift giving.  Underneath all of the holiday cheer, everyone really is just giving away presents to feel that rush of approval when the receiver joyfully exclaims “This is the best present ever!  You know me so well!”  Secret Santa is all about that moment, as players compete to give away all of their present cards.  Alter the game a little by adding in Santa’s Elves, where players have to give away their gold rings and avoid being stuck with the dreaded fruitcake.

Pathfinder Battles Iconic Heroes Set 4Officially intended for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, the Iconic Heroes sets are more commonly used for the traditional Pathfinder roleplaying game.  Icon Heroes Set 4 contains miniatures for the Human Bloodrager, Half-Elf gunslinger, Dwarf Shaman, Stone Spirit Animal, Human Skald, and Half-Elf Swashbuckler.  Each one of the miniatures is fully painted and ready for use in-game.  For those who are actually using these in conjunction with the Adventure Card Game, the set also includes six exclusive cards to be incorporated into the game.Escape Zombie City

Though Escape:  Zombie City has been out on the shelves for nearly a month, we some how never mentioned it in a New Game Stuff post.  Tonight that is rectified.  A spin-off of Queen Games‘ popular Escape series, Zombie City deposits players into a zombie apocalypse and demands that they outrun the hordes of undead clamoring to eat them.  The catch?  You only have fifteen minutes to get out of town!  With everyone working together, players start a fifteen minute counter included with the Bang Duelgame, then rapidly attempt to flee the confines of the city.

Bang!, the popular, Western deception card game, puts a couple more bullets into its six-gun this weekend.  First up are two expansion decks, High Noon and The Valley of Shadows .  High Noon includes a new character card, the Judge, and a few new event cards, like Ghost Town and Gold Rush.  The Valley of Shadows is a dangerous place, full of snake and tornadoes (and possibly snake-nados), all represented by twenty-four additonal cards.  Finally, the biggest draw of the three is Bang! the Duel, a two player only version of the game.  Each player controls two different gunslingers, one in front, one in back, then uses their abilities to compete against one Fluxx Diceanother.

As if the fluctuating party card game, Fluxx, was not already a heap of shenanigans, Looney Labs has found a way to increase the randomness.  Meet Fluxx Dice.  This expansion set can be incorporated into any version of Fluxx (base, Batman, Zombie, Monty Python, etc.), as it includes five new cards and two dice that complicate card draws and win conditions even further.

Postal #1Postal #1

Nameless #1Nameless #1

-Grant Morrison is writing a new series for Image Comics.  And, yes, it’s a weird as you might think.

-Fans of Morrison’s Seaguy, Annhilator, The Filth, and The Invisibles will find another thought-provoking, philosophical tale with Nameless.

-Honestly, I’d summarize the plot, but I’m not sure what to say.  Something about a lost cosmonaut moon base, a dead astronaut, and a sentient asteroid, all blended together in classic Morrison fashion.

Hidden Agenda Hostile Intent ResistanceIndie Board Games has enlisted two new expansion for The Resistance.

The popular bluffing game adds its first two expansions in Hidden Agendas and Hostile Intent.  Hidden Agendas adds three entirely new modules of play to the game, including Assassin, Defector, and Trapper.  Hostile Intent also adds three separate modules, including Hunter, Reverser, and Inquisitor.Flashpoint Honor Duty

Among the many popular cooperative games on the market today, Flash Point is certainly the hottest (yes, I made that pun on purpose).  Flash Point:  Fire Rescue Honor and Duty, like the previous expansion, includes two new double-sided game boards.  Among these new scenarios are an airplane fire mission and a subway train disaster.  Keep in mind, a copy of the base game is Ninja Dicerequired.

Since the dawn of the art of ninjitsu, an ancient artform has passed from generation to generation.  It’s name?  Ninja Dice!  Okay, so maybe it’s not that ancient, but this push-your-luck dice game (similar to Zombie Dice and Martian Dice) has players taking on the role (or is that roll?) of a ninja.  By rolling dice, players establish a scenario they are attempting to sneak into, then roll another set of dice to determine how they will accomplish the goal.Dungeons Dragons Attack Wing Wave 2

Hot on the wings of the first series of Dungeons & Dragons Attack Wing miniatures, Wizards of the Coast has released a second series.  Out this weekend, Attack Wing Series Two includes the Black Shadow Dragon, Movanic Deva Angel, and Aarakocra Troop expansion Star Trek Attack Wing Borg Cubepacks.  Each of these miniature packs include cards and all other materials to incorporate the figure into the base game.

Resistance is futile.  If you’re a die hard Trekkie (which means you’re likely a die hard Star Trek Attack Wing player), then you’re going to have to get a copy of the oversized Borg Cube miniature that releases this weekend.  Like the Deep Space Nine model that came out a couple weeks back, this miniature is to scale with the other Attack Wing miniatures.Holiday Fluxx

Just in time to save those awkward post-diner moments at every family’s holiday party, Loony Labs has released another new version of their popular card game, Fluxx.  Holiday Fluxx, like the other versions of Fluxx, throws players into a scenario where win conditions and rules change every turn.  Cards for this version of the game are themed toward not only winter holidays, like Hanukkah and Christmas, but also Mice and Mystics Downwood TalesHalloween, Arbor Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Eve.

The adventures of the valiant mice knights of Mice and Mystics continues in the second expansion for the popular narrative board game, Downwood Tales.  Included in this hefty addition are a selection of new villains, characters, and story options to continue the adventures of the previous two games.  Among the new characters is a crafty gecko named Jakobe.Firefly RPG Things Don't Go Smooth

If you’re a captain in the verse, the obstacles that crop up between you and something shiny are numerous and varied.  The first supplemental sourcebook for the Firefly RPG, Things Don’t Go Smooth, focuses on these obstacles, detailing four additional types of villainous bosses as well as over fifty distinctions and assets, enemy boats, and two additional Star Wars Imperial Assault“episodes” to play through.  Keep flying.

Fantasy Flight had such a success with Descent: Journeys in the Dark that they decided to take the mechanics to a galaxy far, far away.  Star Wars Imperial Assault is the fourth major gaming release from Fantasy Flight that uses the Star Wars license.  In this epic board game, players take on the roles of either the Galactic Empire or the Rebel forces.  These two factions are distinguished by two separate game modes (Campaign and Skirmish) that each play differently for up to five players.  Fans of the classic Hero Quest system will find numerous similarities within Imperial Assault.

Red Dragon Inn Brother BastionWelcome, welcome, to ye ole Red Dragon Inn!  Come in, ye two new travelers, and have a Red Dragon Inn Ozrik the Adeptseat.

The Red Dragon Inn:  Allies expansions enlist two brand new characters this weekend, one the honored Brother Bastion, the other the mystical Ozrik the Adept.  Brother Bastion comes with special prayer cards that can be expended at specific times during the game for major benefits.  Ozrik the Adept favors hand management, as certain cards increase in power after other cards are discarded.  Both of these expansion can be incorporated any of the Red Dragon Inn base games.

Lord of the Rings The Road DarkensThe Lord of the Rings LCG series from Fantasy Flight gains another Saga Expansion, called The Road Darkens.  This expansion puts the player directly into the Fellowship of the Ring plot, allowing you to play through three original scenarios adapted from the novel.  The Road Darkens also includes additional hero characters that increase replay value of the game.Dark Eldar Codex HC

The Warhammer 40K hardcover library grows by one this weekend with the updated edition of the Dark Eldar Codex.  As is standard with this gorgeous line of hardcover volumes, the Dark Eldar Codex contains a detailed history of the faction, a glossy page showcase of paint schemes for the miniatures as well as an army list, and, of course, a list of rules for the army and their weapons.

Call of Cthulhu card game The Sleeper BelowThe eldar god, Cthulhu, has been awoken from his slumber and he is not happy.  Containing 165 cards to be incorporated into the base Call of Cthulhu LCG, The Sleeper Below, is the newest oversized expansion for the popular card game.  Focusing on the Cthulhu faction for the game, this expansion contains support and event cards for the faction.  As well, new society cards add other factions for the game.

From Iello, the makers of King of Tokyo, comes a quick play family horror game Night of the Grand Octopusthat melds together Lovecraftian mythos and Harry Potter.  Night of the Grand Octopus is a thinly veiled homage to Cthulhu and his cultist followers, tasking players to break into a famous school of the mystical arts to steal enchanting materials that will be used to wake the sleeping octopus god.  Ideal for three to five players, Night of the Grand Octopus is easy to learn and fast to play.

Student BodiesFinally a zombie game that doesn’t even feign at cooperative play!

Student Bodies pits up to five players against each other in life or death combat set in the hallowed halls of high school.  Nearly the entire graduating class has been turned into zombies, now scattered throughout the building, and you and all your friends have already been bitten.  Your only hope is making it to the science lab for the antidote, but to do so you’re going to have to screw over all of the other players.  Oh, and to win, you’re going to need to get out of the building and lock everyone else in.  Like I said, not cooperative.Warhammer Conquest 40K card game

Fantasy Flight and Games Workshop have teamed-up once again for a new addition to the popular line of LCG games, this time set in the Warhammer 40K universe.  Warhammer 40K Conquest is a two player, head-to-head card game that adapts the rules of the miniature game onto cards.  Each player controls armies represented by a card deck, which they then manage as either fighting forces or resource gatherers.  As this base game is the beginning of another LCG line, expect regular deck expansions to grow the game.
