Doctor Who Adventures in Time and Space Fifth DoctorPin a piece of celery to your lapel, because the Fifth Doctor Sourcebook has materialized.

Continuing last year’s 50th Anniversary celebration, Cubicle 7 is still working through releasing individual source books for each of the twelve Doctors.  The Fifth Doctor hardcover contains character stats for this version of the Doctor, all of his companions, his enemies, and allies.  These volumes also contain a comprehensive description of each episode in their respective Doctor‘s season as well as stats for running each of them as an adventure.  The Third and Fourth Doctor hardcovers have also recently shipped.Sushi Go!

The drafting mechanics of 7 Wonders have been condensed down to a quick, twenty minute two to five player card game, called Sushi Go!  Players pass stacks of cards around the table, drafting individual cards of sushi.  Your hand selection will be vitally important, as the rounds go quickly and what you choose at the beginning will determine what Munchkin Princesses expansionsushi pairings you are going after.

Hopefully your ball gown has been tailored and delivered, because it’s turning into a straight-up royal gala in here!

Munchkin Princesses is ladies night all the time, providing fifteen new cards to be incorporated into any version of the Munchkin card game.  Included in this fifteen card booster are new monsters, new treasures, and two brand new princess character cards.

Jax just rolled up into Pulp Fiction and he has a new game for you to play.Sons of Anarchy board game

The Sons of Anarchy:  Men of Mayhem board game pits three to four players against each other in a ruthless bid to control the town of Charming.  A tile laying game, at base, Men of Mayhem sees players build the town by placing random tiles to unveil new territory to fight over.  Once a tile has been laid, players can occupy it with one of two biker figures (those on bikes and those on foot).  But get ready for a fight, because other players can compete with you to take over the territory.

Age of WarBrush up on your Sun Tzu before playing the new dice rolling game, Age of War.

From Fantasy Flight, Age of War revolves around castle tiles that are laid in the center of the table, each marked with an assortment of specific symbols.  These symbols match a set of seven dice that are passed around the table and rolled by players.  Each player is assigned a certain amount of castles, ranging from one to four, but then competes to control the other players’ castles by rolling the dice and matching symbols to the ones inside their castles.Doomtown Reloaded

The classic Deadlands card game has been re-envisioned as Doomtown:  Reloaded.

This deck building game operates similarly to Dominion, Resident Evil, Ascension, and all the rest, but with a slight twist.  Players attempt to build their decks around one of four different factions, called Outfits.  Also, during the course of the game, players will face off in shootouts that will be decided, like in poker, by Adventure Time Card Wars Princess Bubblegum Lumpy Space Princessthe suits on the cards in their hands.  So, choosing which cards to play when may decide whether you get gunned down or not.

The World of Ooo expands this weekend with another two player starter set.

Princess Bubblegum vs. Lumpy Space Princess features two complete decks of cards intended to be played against each other, but that can also be pitted against any of the decks from the previous two Card Wars releases.  Bubblegum’s deck uses damage to increase its power while LSP’s is the first two color deck to be released for the game.

Anything Finn can do, Fionna can do better.  And in knee socks.

The highly successful Adventure Time comic series gains another tie-in miniseries this Wednesday!  Written by co-creator and storyboard artist from the television show, Natasha Allegri, Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake brings the girl power!  Spinning out of a stand-alone episode where the regular protagonists, Finn and Jake, where gender bent into women, this miniseries gives them the spotlight for six whole issues!  As the previous Adventure Time series have sold out as fast as the Ice Queen sliding down a snowy slope, if you want a copy be sure to put your name on the pull before Wednesday or be at the store early!

Vampires have been the new hotness for quite some time now, but they’ve never been Marvel NOW!  Uh, until now.

With this week’s Morbius, the Living Vampire #1, another of Spidey‘s villains gets an empathetic make over.  After breaking out of The Raft prison in Spider-Man #699.1, Michael Morbius is attempting to find his inner good guy and satisfy his natural hunger.  Written by Joe Keatinge, up-and-coming author of Hell Yeah and Glory for Image Comic, the first issue showcases his unique blend of stylistic indy paneling and catchy, quick dialog as well as moody horror.  As is often the case, C-list characters commonly make for the best reads at the big two comic companies (for evidence, see Swamp Thing and Hawkeye), given that the writers have a leeway to put the characters through their paces in ways that the A-list characters can’t be.  Trust me, it won’t suck.  Except, you know, in the ways that a vampire book should.

The other Marvel NOW! release for this next week is Johnathon Hickman’s Avengers companion book, New Avengers #1. Like FF to Fantastic Four, this series will share characters with the main title, as well as some plot elements, making them a shared story, of sorts.  And if you’ve read Hickman’s first issue of Avengers or any of his Manhattan Projects series, you know he’s capable of giant sci-fi craziness and incredible plot twists, both qualities which he will bring to characters of New Avengers.  Starring The Illuminati, the secretive, behind-the-scenes puppet masters of the Marvel Universe, the series will feature Black Panther, Iron Man, Reed Richards, Namor, Doctor Strange, Black Bolt, and Beast desperately struggling to halt the collision of two universes.  And fans of the New Universe concept of yesteryear should take note, as it’s rumored to return in this book.

Thanks to a little timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly stuff, the third series of Doctor Who Character Builder Miniatures materializes in the store this Wednesday!  Yes, we know series two hasn’t arrived yet, but, you know, time travel.  Anyway, it really doesn’t matter as each set features different characters or key characters in unique costumes.  Set three includes the Doctor in his fancy green longcoat (circa season five), Amy with Silence marks on her face, an alternate universe Rory, River Song, an Ood, and many more (check them all out to the right).  Each figure is compatible with Lego’s, if you wish to build your own Doctor Who adventure set, or feel free to pick up one of Doctor Who Character Builder playsets currently at the store.

Hold onto your fez!

It’s had to travel through all of time and space to get here, but the second edition of the Doctor Who roleplaying game from Cubicle Seven has arrived. As opposed to the previous 10th Doctor version, all the materials for this edition feature the 11th Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory, and the rest of the season 5-6 cast. And what are these timey-wimey materials, you ask? That’d be a player’s guide, GM’s guide, adventure book, character sheets, tokens, pre-generated characters from the show, and dice. With all that space junk you can assemble whatever time traveling adventuring your mind can imagine. Whether that’s fighting Weeping Angels, running from Daleks, or showing River Song around the cosmos, you can do so as The Doctor, Amy, Rory, or characters of your own design. Geronimo!!!

Fall in, soldiers!

D-Day Dice is enlisting you to action! A cooperative dice game, D-Day Dice has players building their troops over the course of action. Beginning with a limited number of men, everyone works together, rolling dice, to grow their infantry and resources for battle. Succeed or die trying.

Bummed by the fact that you already on the previous version of Descent now that Fantasy Flight has released a shiny new version? Well, don’t be. Alongside the Descent second edition game, there is also the Descent Conversion Kit. Providing all the necessary materials, this kit allows players to adapt their old game and characters to the new system. Inside the box are hero sheets for every character introduced in the previous game, its expansions, and DungeonQuest, along with fifty monster cards representing the creatures from these previous games. Now the only thing to be bummed about is when a hoard of orcs is storming toward you.

Now fans can experience Wonderland in a way no one has ever experienced before as the Zenoscope comic book from Joe Brusha, Ralph Tedesco, and Raven Gregory comes to life in this exciting, strategy filled game. Experience a vibrant, twisted world, full of surprises!

The board game Wonderland features two separate realms: Earth and Wonderland. The realms are artfully depicted on the double-sided board and switching between them adds a unique twist and an added level of complexity to the game that few other board games offer. Players compete against each other, each player trying to complete specific goals while the other players try to foil their attempts at progressing.

Yarrr, me ratties.

Straight from Germany comes Sewer Pirats, a treasure hunting game where players take on the roles a crew of scallywags comprised of rodents and vermin. Based on how players organize their crew members on board their ships, treasure is collect efficiently or inefficiently. The player with the most booty at the end, wins!

Finally, in preparation for tomorrow night’s 2013 Game Day event (the M13 standard tournament) come the new batch of Event Decks. This time around, they color combos are green/white and red/blue coming with cards like Razorverge Thicket, Green Sun’s Zenith, Thragtusk, Sulfur Falls, and Darkslick Shores.

The question is not “Who watches the Watchmen?”, but “Who reads the Before Watchmen?”.

The answer should be everyone, as, thus far, these miniseries have been phenomenal examples of masterful comic storytelling. If you’ve missed Minutemen, Silk Spectre, and Comedian, the beginnings of the first three miniseries, don’t worry, we’re getting a restock this Wednesday. Each series has been impressive due to their ability to explore different comic genres, golden age fisticuffs , romance, and espionage comics respectively, taking them out of the tonality of the original Watchmen story. With Nite Owl beginning this week, it’s a perfect time to pick up the first issues of the first four series.

Kick-Ass is easily one of the most violent, darkly humorous, twisted comics in recent memory and, no question, the character who sums that spirit up most completely is Hit-Girl. Taking place in between the events of Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2, the new Hit-Girl miniseries explores the equation of Mindy + high school = offensive insanity. If you hadn’t notice, Mindy McCready isn’t quite like other girls her age, so surrounding her with scene kids and Bielibers results in awkwardness on an epic scale. With Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr., the original creators of Kick-Ass, behind it, Hit-Girl is going to kick you balls in and smack your mother upside the head.

Dan Abbnett and Andy Lanning, the bearers of the cosmic-y goodness at Marvel, bring their space opera talent to Boom! Studios with The Hypernaturals. Similar to the Green Lantern Corps, the Hypernaturals are a galactic peace keeping force who’ve actually lived up to their mandate. At least until they all disappear from existence. With everything going to pot, a group of new recruits and retired veterans must team up to put things right. If you enjoyed any of the Annihilation or Guardians of the Galaxy series, then think of Hypernaturals as their first cousin.

Finally, tonight, lets end on a note of pure cuteness. Brimming with huggability, the Hulk, Captain America, and Spider-Man Footzeezs are all made of terrycloth and, I’m assuming, rainbows, sunshine, and unicorn laughter. You’ll probably want to buy them all to make your soul happy.
