Civil War II #1Civil War II #1 (of 7)

-Okay, sure, issue #0 came out two weeks ago, but Civil War II #1 is the real kick-off this epic Marvel event.

-Having set-up the conflict and the fight over Ulysses, the young Inhuman who can predict the future, Captain Marvel and Iron Man will begin throwing down!

-One of the Marvel Universe‘s primary architects, Brian Michael Bendis (Invincible Iron Man, All New X-Men, House of M) is guiding this event.

-Bendis will also be joined by his Invincible Iron Man artist, David Marquez.

Spider-Woman v.1 tpb “Baby Talk”Spider-Woman v.1 tpb Baby Talk

-We know you’ve heard about it online.  We know you’ve heard about it on the Longest Shortest Time podcast.  We know you’ve heard about it from us.  Spider-Woman v.1 is the pregnancy arc, and it’s wonderful!

-Written by Pulp’s own, Dennis Hopeless, following up his previous, acclaimed run on Spider-Woman.

-Having recently welcomed twins into the world with his wife, Dennis pours his heart-and-soul into this personal arc, as Jessica Drew has to fight her way out of a hostage situation as she goes into labor.

-I have read Dennis’ work since he started getting it published.  I can honestly say that Spider-Woman #5, that is collected in this trade, is the work of his career, combining humor, action, and personal influences flawlessly.

Power Rangers Pink RangerPower Rangers Pink #1

-Boom Studios! recently launched and found quick success with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, so, of course, they’re going to follow it up with a spin-off series.

-The first in a series of solo Power Rangers comics, Pink focuses on Kimberly the original Pink Ranger.

-Kimberly will take part in various adventures across the series, with each issue featuring a new conflict.

-To write the series, Boom! has brought together two popular writers, Brenden Fletcher (Gotham Academy, Black Canary, Batgirl) and Kelly Thompson (Jem and the Hologram, A-Force), to tag team the series.

DC Rebirth Week OneBatman Rebirth

-After the mind-blowing reveal of DC Universe Rebirth #1, the relaunch begins this week with four Rebirth one-shots that lead into their respective ongoing series.

-Leading this Wednesday’s line-up is Batman Rebirth #1, co-written by new ongoing writer, Tom King (Vision, Grayson), and out-going writer, Scott Snyder!

-The Superman you love is back!  Having survived the destruction of the pre-New 52 timeline, the Superman starring in this series is the original from 1938!  However, he is married to Lois Lane and has a child, so not everything stays the same.

-Finally, the two green Rebirths.  There’s Green Lanterns, plural, starring Jessica Cruz (from Justice League) and Simon Baz, now in charge of Earth’s protection.  Then there’s Green Arrow, reuniting the Emerald Archer with his one true lady love, Black Canary.

Doctor Strange The Last Days of MagicDoctor Strange:  The Last Days of Magic #1

-Spins out of the events occurring in the main Doctor Strange series!

-Led by Jason Aaron, this anthology one shot features a variety of writers and artists telling tales about the upending of magic in the Marvel Universe.

-In addition to a story about Wong sacrificing for his friend’s survival, there will also be tales about Brother Voodoo and a completely new Marvel character!

-If you’ve been reading the main Doctor Stranger series, this one shot is a must!

Aliens:  Defiance #1Aliens Defiance

-Only a few years away from the continuation of the Aliens universe films, Dark Horse is preparing with a new ongoing series.

-Popular writer, Brian Wood (Black Road, X-Men, Moon Knight), tries his hand at the property.

-Wood will be returning to the claustrophobic horror of the original Alien with the series, but blending in elements of mystery.

-Zula Hendricks, a member of the Ultra Marines, is accompanying a freighter of androids and other materials across the stars when she’s sent on a journey to discover the source of a wayward Xenomorph on her ship.

The Fourth PlanetThe Fourth Planet #1

-Okay, we’re going to be honest.  We ordered this series without any knowledge of the creators or plot, it simply looked like a great read.

-Help us out and the creators out by giving this new, exciting, indy comic a try.

-When a group of refugees crash their stolen warship into a planet entrenched in their own battle, they must take sides or be destroyed.

-From all accounts, fans of classic Sci-Fi, like Warlords of Mars or War of the Worlds, as well as those of current series like Descender, East of West, and Prophet, should give The Fourth Planet a look.

4 Kids Walk Into a Bank #14 Kids Walk Into a Bank

-After making his name on the Black Mask series We Can Never Go Home, Matthew Rosenberg has become a must-read writer in the industry.

-4 Kids Walk Into a Bank is his follow-up series to We Can Never Go Home, promising many of the same pleasures.

-A master of snappy, youthful dialog, Rosenberg has built this series around a close-knit group of tweens getting up to some very bad business.

-While playing in their weekly D&D game, the stars of the series find out that one of their group’s fathers is being asked to pull a bank robbery.  Problem is, those asking are destined to screw it up and get him thrown in jail.  Thus, the group has no other option than to pull the heist themselves.

HyperionHyperion #1

-Marvel‘s version of Superman receives his own ongoing series!

-Hailing from an alternate version of Marvel‘s Earth, Hyperion has been a violent despot, an Avenger, and now a drifter.

-When the series begins, Hyperion has decided to take to the open road, driving a truck around America to discover an Earth he’s never known.

-Fans of Jonathan Hickman’s Avengers run or the current Squadron Supreme series should give this a look.

GI Joe Deviations one shotGI Joe Deviations

-For the month of March, IDW is releasing a series of Deviations one shots that, essentially, act as “What if?” stories for their characters.

-Following on the heels of last week’s Ghostbusters and Transformers one shots, G.I. Joe is out this Wednesday.

-What if Cobra actually won?  What if Cobra Commander ruled the world?  Well, apparently, he’d be really bored.  G.I. Joe Deviations delves into that world, following Cobra Commander as he seeks to rebuild the G.I. Joes just to have someone to fight.

-Deviations has also acted as a showcase for new talent, so Paul Allor (Bravest Warriors, Pathfinder:  Goblins, TMNT), a rising star, will be writing this issue.

The Shadow GlassThe Shadow Glass #1 (of 6)

-Take a chance on a new, exciting miniseries from Dark Horse!

-Coming from Heavy Metal, writer/artist Aly Fell launches this miniseries handling all aspects of its creation.

-Part Shakespeare, part Steampunk, part mysticism, The Shadow Glass will be unlike anything you’ve read this year.

-In a world run by the occult, a young woman discovers that the man she thought to be her father isn’t and that her real dad communes with the devil.  With her life upended, Rose heads out to discover her true origins.

Circuit Breaker #1 (of 5)Circuit Breaker

-Fans of Manga and, specifically, Astro Boy, Circuit Breaker is an Image Comics miniseries to check out.

-Having worked in the industry for decades, working on Batman, X-Men, Deadpool, and nearly any other Marvel or DC property you’ve heard of, Kyle Baker will provide pencils to the entire miniseries.

-Following World War IV, the robot army designed to save the world rebels!  Their inventor designs one last automaton in the image of his granddaughter to save the world.  That is, if she doesn’t rebel like her brothers and sisters!

-Maniacal Chibi mascots, butt-guns, and hidden robot societies await in Circuit Breaker!

Death of Wolverine tpbDeath of Wolverine tpb

Agents of Shield #1Agents of SHIELD

-Marc Guggenheim, writer and co-creator of CW‘s Arrow, will be writing the series going forward!

-Coulson is at the heart of this book’s first arc, as his old flame Lola (a person, not a car) comes out of the woodwork to activate a hidden mental boobytrap in Coulson’s mind that turns him into a weapon.

-Oh, and Hydra‘s kinda still a problem, too.
