Mars Attacks OccupationMars Attacks Occupation #1 (of 5)

-Usually, we hear the story about the Martian invasion, but Mars Attacks Occupation is set after the Martians have already taken over.

-IDW has done these sorts of Mars Attacks crossover events to great acclaim before.

-Like before, John Layman, the creator of Chew and former writer of Detective Comics, will be writing all five issues of this miniseries.

-Unlike Tim Burton’s dark comedy, the human protagonist of this miniseries actually has a fighting chance of defeating her oppressors.

Haunted Mansion #1 (of 5)Haunted Mansion

-Marvel has found success with their younger readers line based around Disney theme parks and characters, including Figment and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

-Haunted Mansion will be written by Joshua Williamson (Ghosted, Illuminati, Birthright, Nailbiter)!

-When Danny gets locked into the Haunted Mansion, he desperately attempts to escape for fear of becoming the 1000th ghost in a house already populated by 999 specters!

Batman:  Joker’s Daughter #1 (One-shot)

-Not, we say NOT, written by Anne Nocenti, the writer who handled the Joker’s Daughter Villains Month issue (and for those who read it, you know why we’d mention this)!

-Instead, a better female writer, the up-and-coming Marguerite Bennett (a pupil of Scott Snyder), takes the reins.

-This one-shot issue further explores the twisted origins of the woman calling herself The Joker’s Daughter, as she continues her attempts at controlling the sewers and underground waterways of Gotham City.

-Bennett wrote the rather good Batman Annual #2 from last year as well as the Lobo Villains Month issue, showing a talent for constructing tight, focused done-in-one stories.

Punisher #1

-Nathan Edmondson has already delivered a successful All New Marvel NOW! series in the form of Black Widow.  What will he do with the Marvel Universe‘s most infamous vigilante?

-Frank Castle needs a change of scenery as he head’s out West.  A major crime syndicate has arisen in L.A., and The Punisher is hot on their trail.

-Edmondson excels at espionage tales as well as action narratives (as the first couple issues of Black Widow attest), so his style is perfectly suited to The Punisher.

-Oh, and did we mention that Frank’s not the only one on the hunt?  He’s got a mafia hit squad chasing him as he chases their bosses.

Loki, Agent of Asgard #1

-Forget Thor, we all know Loki‘s the real reason anyone goes to see any movie set in Asgard.

-With a brand new body, Loki is more mischievous than ever and ready to put that talent for mischief to good use.

-Al Ewing, who is writing the hell out of Mighty Avengers right now, unleashes his pure fun, classic Marvel style onto the Asgardian section of the universe.

-As an Agent of Asgard, this series will see Loki sent on covert missions, missions that rely on his talent for trickery.

Ms. Marvel #1

-Following in the footsteps of Kelly Sue Deconnick’s cult favorite Captain Marvel series, Ms. Marvel adds another Marvel series written by women for women about women.

-Kamala Khan is an entirely new hero for an All New Marvel NOW! era, both a teenager and a Muslim, Kamala adds some needed diversity to the Marvel Universe.

-A perfect entry point for teen readers, Ms. Marvel finds Kamala trying to balance an overbearing father, new superpowers, and the regular hormonal difficulties of high school.

-G. Willow Wilson (Air, Cairo) and Adrian Alphona (The Runaways, Uncanny X-Force) are, possibly, the most exciting creator pairing in the entire All New Marvel NOW! relaunch!

George Romero’s Empire of the Dead #1 (of 5)

-Legendary master of the undead, George Romero, brings his zombie universe to Marvel comics.

-This issue begins an epic saga of zombie ravaged New York, as Act One of a three act maxi-series.

-Romero is joined by veteran artist extraordinaire, Alex Maleev (Daredevil, Moon Knight, Scarlet), whose sketchy, gritty style is perfect for horrific stories like this.

-Romero expands his universe by bringing vampires into the fray.

Deadly Class #1

-Issue #1 is already  OUT OF PRINT!

-Rick Remender (Uncanny X-Force, Fear Agent, Black Science) weaves together assassin stories and high school movies in this darkly humored action series.

-Set during the hedonistic 1980s, Deadly Class has a group of teenagers navigating high school while learning how to be the best assassins in the world.

-Kinda like if John Hughes had a love baby with Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill.

-A slew of impressive artists, including Bryan Lee O’Malley (Scott Pilgrim), Cliff Chang (Wonder Woman), and Paul Azaceta, contribute to the book!

Amazing Spider-Man “Dying Wish” tpb

-The epic ending to the 700 issue long run of Amazing Spider-Man is included, in its entirety, in this oversized trade paperback!

-Dan Slott brings his legendary run to a close by putting Peter Parker’s life on the line, and if you haven’t read any spoilers of late you might be surprised how events play out.

-With Doctor Octopus on his deathbed, he calls to his side one person, Spider-Man, but not by his hero identity, by his real name.  Why does Doc Ock know Peter’s name?  What has he got to tell him?  Will he live to tell him?
