Monstress v.1 tpbMonstress v.1 tpb

-Praised as one of last year’s best new ongoing series, Monstress is now out in trade paperback!

-Blending elements of anime, Hayao Miyazaki films, and steampunk, Monstress is unlike any other Image comics you’ll read.

-Taking place in an alternate reality, Monstress follows a young girl who has survived a treacherous war as she leads a rebellion against the ruling class.

-Sana Takeda’s art is worth the $9.99 price tag alone, as all six issues of her gorgeously intricate painted artwork is included.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern CORPS Rebirth #1Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern CORPS

-You’ve read Green Lanterns, now dive into the rest of the Green Lantern CORPS!

-Robert Venditti, who took over for Geoff Johns during the New 52 era, is back to helm this title.

-Those looking for classic Green Lantern action will find it in the Hal Jordan series, as he, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and Jon Stewart face off against Sinestro.

-Ethan Van Sciver and a slew of other great artists will be illustrating the issues of this ongoing series, switching off as the series progresses.

New Super-ManNew Super-Man #1

-Even though there’s a new Clark Kent/Superman on the block, there’s still room for one more!

-Kong Kenan is the Super-Man of China, both trying to deal with his new found powers and form his very own Justice League.

-Having finished out the New 52 era for the Superman series, Gene Luen Yang is now launching this new ongoing series.

-Yang is also well known for writing the stellar Avatar the Last Airbender graphic novels for Dark Horse!

Nightwing Rebirth #1Nightwing Rebirth #1

-Even though Grayson was one of DC‘s best ongoing series, everyone’s been dying for Dick Grayson to return to the Nightwing mantle!  Well, he’s back and he’s in blue and black!

-Tim Seeley (Revival, Grayson) sticks around to write the Nightwing series going forward!

-Transitioning back into the world of superheroes, Dick has to hone his skills by working with a new mentor named Raptor.

-As these two train, they attempt to strike back against an organization that has caused the Bat-Family immense distress:  The Court of Owls.

Con Man SpectrumCon Man’s Spectrum #1

-Aching for a Firefly reunion?  Con Man’s Spectrum may be the closest we get for awhile.

-Based off of the fan favorite webseries, this ongoing comic delves into the show-within-the-show.

-Not only does the series follow the characters played by Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk, but it is also co-written by Tudyk, himself.

-Depicting episodes of the show-within-the-show, Spectrum, this series sees Fillion and Tudyk’s characters outrunning an alien race in an untested spaceship.

Hillbilly #1Hillbilly

-Eric Powell, the creator of The Goon and Big Man Plans, is back with a new ongoing series!

-This series will also see a crossover with one of Powell’s other popular characters, Buzzard!

-Following a mountainous fur trapper who lives among the Appalachian mountains, Hillbilly finds him battling and mingling with the fantasy creatures who reside in the forest.  Including a feral dog-boy!

-If you think The Goon is crazy, just see what sort of debauchery Powell can unleash writing and illustrating under his own imprint!

DC Superhero Girls v.1 tpbDC Superhero Girls v.1 tpb “Finals Crisis”

-The first in a series of all-ages graphic novels for female readers!

-DC has heard the outcry for action figures and content that appeals and connects with women.

-All of your favorite DC heroines, like Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, and Poison Ivy, are just trying to make it through superhero high school when a mysterious villain gets in their way.

-Yancy Labat’s art style is cartoonish and colorful in the same vein as Bee and Puppycat, Lumberjanes, and Adventure Time!

Vision v.1 tpbVision v.1 tpb

-We’ve been telling everyone to read this comic for months!  Now is the time to jump on!

-Slowly building a name for himself, Tom King received the Batman writing gig based off of the critical acclaim of this series.

-Combines qualities from The Stepford Wives, Desperate Housewives, David Lynch, and various horror films into one surreal, twisted package.

-After being rebooted, Vision has built himself an android family (a wife and two children) and moved to the suburbs of Washington, D.C.  With the neighborhood distrusting the “robots” who’ve moved in and The Avengers skeptical of Vision’s choices, an unfriendly foe comes knocking.  Things will never be the same.

Captain America Road to WarCaptain America: Road to War #1 one shot

-Prep for Captain America:  Civil War with this lead-in one shot.

-Read about the first adventure this version of the Avengers went on.

Dept H #1Dept H

-From creator Matt Kindt (Mind MGMT, Rai, The Valiant, Revolver) comes a new ongoing series for Dark Horse.

-A masterful writer and artist, Kindt provides both for this series.

-A crime mystery on an undersea research facility, Dept H blends all the best aspects of a detective show, Bioshock, and The Wake.

-When Mia, the investigator brought to the facility to solve a mystery, gets trapped underwater, how can she hope to escape and figure out what’s going on?

All New All Different Avengers v.1 tpbAll New All Different tpbs

-Many of the initial All New All Different Marvel relaunch series are dropping in trade paperback form this weekend.

-First up, the flagship Avengers title, All New All Different Avengers, has it’s first six issues plus shorts from the Free Comic Book Day issue published in a volume one TPB.

-Second, Captain America Sam Wilson v.1 tpb sees The Falcon take up Cap’s mantle in the face of national uncertainty.

-Finally, Contest of Champions v.1 tpb contains the first six issues of the series, finding multiple Marvel heroes transported to an alternate realm in order to battle each other.

I Hate Fairyland v.1 tpbI Hate Fairyland v.1 tpb

-Renowned for his popular, cutesy “Baby Variants” at Marvel, Skottie Young’s anything-but-cute series from Image receives it’s first trade.

-Written and illustrated by Young, I Hate Fairyland is not only hilarious, but great to look at.

-You know the story, a young girl is whisked into a fantasy land.  Except I Hate Fairyland is the violent, raunchy, filthiest version of that story you’ve ever read.

-Plus, the book is from Image Comics, so the trade is set at a reasonable price of $9.99!

X-Men 92 #1X-Men 92 #1

-After looking at the cover to the left, I know, like me, you have that catchy theme song from the 90s animated X-Men series stuck in your head.  That’s largely because X-Men 92 is, essentially, a continuation of that show.

-Continues from the popular Secret Wars miniseries of the same name.

-The creative team from that previous series returns to lend the retro feel.

-After defeating Casandra Nova, the X-Men are reopening the Xavier Institute, just in time for Omega Red to attack!

Walking Dead v.25 tpbThe Walking Dead v.25 tp

-It only happens two or three times a year, so when a new Walking Dead tpb comes out you bet we’re going to mention it on here!

-In this volume, Robert Kirkman begins to pick up the pieces as Rick and his community pick up the pieces after their war with the Whisperers.

-Will Rick be able to resist the conniving ways of Negan, who has slowly wheedled his way into Rick’s mind.

-Outside of giving you the last six issues of The Walking Dead, this volume will also come shrink-wrapped with Kirkman’s Outcast #1 ahead of the new television show premiering.

Godzilla OblivionGodzilla Oblivion #1 (of 5)

-After clawing his way up from the underworld in Godzilla in Hell, the King of the Monsters is back!

-Passing through a portal to another dimension, Godzilla must face a pack of creatures he’s never encountered before!

-Joshua Hale Fialkov, fresh off a Doctor Who run, will be handling writing duties on this five issue miniseries!

-Fialkov’s partner in crime on the series will be Brian Churilla, previously of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Big Trouble in Little China.

Paper Girls v.1 tpbPaper Girls v.1 tpb

-Author of Saga, Y the Last Man, We Stand on Guard, Ex Machina, and The Runaways, Brian K. Vaughn’s new series is finally out in trade paperback!

-Fans of eighties child adventure films, like The Goonies, Stand by Me, and Flight of the Navigator, will love this series!

-On Halloween night, four paper girls stumble into a surreal attack on their neighborhood from places unknown.  How Vaughn unravels that mystery is where the fun comes in.

-This collection contains the first five issues for the low price of $9.99!
