Mafia de CubaJoin the family in Mafia de Cuba.  In the vein of Ultimate Werewolf or Bang!, Mafia de Cuba is a game of deceptive trickery.  Players will pass around the actual game box, which will contain various diamonds and tokens, each of which can be stolen or left in order to choose your allegiance.  As the box is passed around, other players will have to deduce who has taken or not taken what tokens in order to figure out their allegiance.Boss Monster 2

Boss Monster 2 may have already come out, but that was simply the standard edition.  If you know anything about video games, you’ll know that alternate versions and updated editions are a regular occurrence.  That being said, Boss Monster 2 receives a special limited edition variant this weekend.  Including the same twelve new bosses from the original version, this limited edition presents them in shiny, deluxe holofoil!

MLP_CCG_StarterBring home the mystical mysteries of Ponyville and beyond with this exciting new expansion set to the My Little Pony Collectible Card Game.  Each High Magic Theme Deck includes three must-have exclusive cards, including a new Mane Character card that will change the way you play.  With the Steal the Show Theme Deck you’ll use the show-stopping magic of The Great and Powerful Trixie to unlock the Chest of Harmony, travel halfway across Equestria, score fifteen points, and win the game!Code of Nine board game

Heavily influenced by anime and manga, Code of Nine is the newest game from the designers of Tragedy Looper.  In the game, you are an automaton awakening to the ruins of the world 100 years after its destruction.  With no humans alive to guide you, and only having two of the eight important conditions that you must obey, you must wander the ruins to complete the task assigned you.  Each location on the board has a unique effect.  You may gain items, steal items, or look at your opponents’ Memory cards.  You must choose which action to take, but with only fifteen turns to act, choose wisely.

Kingslayer playmat A Game of ThronesFantasy Flight games launches a series playmats this weekend for the Game of Thrones LCG.  Each of these rubber playmats are 14″x24″ in diameter, and feature beautifully illustrated versions of the George R.R. Martin’s most famous characters.  Choose from The Kingslayer, the Mother of Dragons, Ironborn Reavers, the Red Witch, and others.  While these playmats are intended for use with the LCG, they are obviously usable with Magic, My Little Pony, or any other popular card game.Monster Playmat Tube

And if you’re going to be picking up a new playmat, might as well grab a fancy Monster Playmat Tube.  These tubes come in a variety of colors, including red, green, gray, clear, and opaque black and white.  Unlike other brands of playmat tubes, Monsters are triangular, which keeps them from rolling away Dragon Farklewhen you sit them down.

You’ve played Farkle, but have you ever braved the challenge of Dragon Farkle?  The answer is likely “no,” as the game is just coming out this weekend.  Dragon Farkle is like standard versions of Farkle, but with the added mechanics that account for the whole dragon-ness of it all.  Not only will you roll dice to “build your armies,” you will also utilize various magic items and companions, represented by cards, to battle against the menacing dragon.  Shadows Over Normandie Achtung Cthulhu

What game isn’t improved by throwing some Cthulhu into it?  None.  The answer is none.  In Shadows Over Normandie:  Achtung! Cthulhu, two to three players control opposing armies (the Majestic, Deep Ones, or Black Sun) in all out warfare.  Represented by illustrated tokens, each army moves across battlefield tiles that pose obstacles and cover, much like a miniature battle game.  Of course, in this version of Amazing Spider-Man Dice Masters Starter SetWWII, the Elder Gods have fully descended upon the Earth, adding a little extra challenge.

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, rolls a die like a spider can!  Yes, The Amazing Spider-Man Dice Masters Starter Sets have finally swung into the store.  Each Starter Set contains forty-four custom dice and thirty-eight cards, enough materials for two players to compete head-to-head.  Included in the game are old favorites like Spider-Man, himself, the Kingpin, and Carnage, alongside new favorites, like Spider-Gwen.  In addition to these affordable Starter Sets, the Amazing Spider-Man booster packs are also on shelves.  Each pack contains a new character that can be incorporated into the main game.

Hipster DiceLike mustaches, lattes, kale, and thick framed glasses before it, Hipster Dice is the new game that you need to be playing before everyone else figures out how cool it is.  We’d explain how it plays, but you probably wouldn’t understand the rules, they’re based off of a traditional German dice game from the early thirties.

Before the Gods, there were the Titans.  Cyclades:  Titans is the second expansion for Cyclades, Cyclades Titansthe game of mythological battle.  This expansion features an entirely new board containing six separate island nations for players to fight on.  As well, the expansion contains two separate play styles, including an up to five player competitive mode and a team version for up to six players.

My Little Pony Theme Deck Crystal CasteAnother My Little Pony CCG set is on the horizon and to herald its arrival, Enterplay released two new Theme Decks this weekend.  The Opening Ceremonies deck is built around the Cutie Mark Crusaders while the Special Delivery deck is built around Spike.  Both decks come with nearly sixty cards, ready to play as a pre-built deck, as well as a rule booklet and playmat with instructions.Planes

You know that scene in Home Alone where the entire family is sprinting to the airport terminal in a desperate effort to catch their plane?  Yeah, well, AEG has turned that into a game.  Planes, a sequel to the successful Trains, has players squabbling against each other to make it through an overcrowded terminal, check their luggage, and get through security before anyone else.  Oh, and you have to make sure your entire family makes it to the Mars Attacks The Dice Gameplane.

Ack ack ack ACK!  Or in terrestrial language, the new Mars Attacks Dice Game is out.

A tactical dice game of world domination, players take on the role of invading martians, rolling dice to determine which landmarks you destroy, how many humans you eviscerate, and whether you take any photos on this vacation.  Based off of the cult classic trading cards and the Tim Burton film, Steve Jackson‘s Mars Attacks Dice Claustrophobia Furor SanguinisGame is an easy, quick game for fans!

The dungeon crawl board game, Claustrophobia (which is set in the Hell Dorado universe), gains an expansion this weekend in Furor Sanguinis.  Including tiles, a miniature, tokens, dice, and another squamata board, Furor Sanguinis allows players to control Kartikeya in a three Dungeons Dragons Miniatures Tiamatplayer variant of the game.

Dungeons and Dragons Next‘s dragon miniature count increases by two this weekend with the release of the Tiamat and Bahamut premium miniatures.  These fully painted, epic sized figurines are usable within the roleplaying system and will shortly be made available for the Attack Wing battle game.Letters to Santa

Just in time for the holidays, AEG has released another, yule tide variation of Love Letter.  Letters to Santa overlays the popular mechanics of Love Letter by having players struggling to get a letter to Santa and avoid Krampus in the process.  This easy Shadowrun Beginner Box Setto learn, all ages card game even comes in Santa’s own, red sack.

Cyberpunk and the fantasy of D&D collide in the world of Shadowrun!

Until now, this long running roleplaying system has been resigned to core rulebooks and supplements, but, as of this weekend, the Shadowrun Beginner Box has just made it that much easier to get into the game.  This inexpensive box set includes all of the essential materials to teach new players how to run and play in a Shadowrun game.  Those materials include a condensed book about the world, a quick-start rulebook, a character booklet with pre-generated sheets, and dice, allowing for up to four players and one game master.

Same great Zombie Dice flavor, but now with  more dinosaurs!

That’s Dino Hunt Dice, the most recent addition to Steve Jackson’s line of fun, family-friendly, easy-to-learn games.  Exactly like Zombie Dice, players roll three dice at a time in an attempt to nab as many dinosaurs as they can (unlike Zombie Dice, there are multiple types, like T-Rex, Triceratops, and more) without getting stomped three times by a giant dino foot.  If you get a leaf you’re able to reroll that die, but if three feet do appear you lose all the dinosaurs you’ve collected that round.  It’s that simple.  For two or more players, Dino Hunt Dice is a portable, easily learned dice game for the whole family.

The Force is growing stronger for the Star Wars Living Card Game with the release of the first Force Pack.  The Desolation of Hoth, like Fantasy Flight‘s other LCG expansions, contains sixty new cards for inclusion in the Star Wars LCG base game.  These cards expand the experience of the game, structuring a new adventure on the ice planet of Hoth.

If you’re tired of staring at your boring family during that holiday dinner, get Rory’s Story Cubes.  If you can’t get your brain to come up with any ideas for that novel you’ve been whittling away at, get Rory’s Story Cubes.  If your child keeps begging for a new bedtime story and you don’t have any on to tell, get Rory’s Story Cubes.  A simple solo or multi-player storytelling game, Rory’s Story Cubes are sets of nine dice, adorned with various pictures used to spur narrative forward in a group environment.  Each of the three existing sets is themed to focus on Actions, Voyages, and basic story elements.

The draft is on!

The Blood Bowl Team Manager Card Game is expanding its ranks by three in with the Sudden Death expansion set.  Each of these three new teams incorporate new abilities, like the Champions of Death who raise zombified players from underneath the field whenever the chips are down.  The Dark Sorcery Syndicate (magic, magic, magic!) and the Black Fangs (they want to suck away your victory) round out the options.  But some other Hail Mary additions have been included, too, like enchanted ball cards, contract payouts, and much, much more.  HIKE!

Always a yearly highlight for Magic the Gathering players, the newest Duel Deck has hit shelves.  Considering the pairing this time is Sorin vs. Tibalt, they are not likely to remain on shelves for much longer.  For those looking for money cards, the cost of the Duel Deck is recuperated by the Sorin, Lord of Innistrad card alone.  If you’re just looking to play with a buddy, these sets are the perfect starting point for new Magic players or anyone looking to have a quick throwdown.  Each deck, Sorin and Tibalt, are constructed to pose a threat to their opponent, leading to a fair match between players and reliable decks to learn the game off of.

Before we begin today, a bit of mood setting.  In that effort, please click below and keep it playing during your reading of the first item.  Thank you all.

Okay, now insert Ultimate Combat when applicable.  That’s right, Pathfinder:  Ultimate Combat has cartwheel kicked its way onto the shelves this week.  Many have perished in its making, but the bloodshed was well worth it as this thick edition expands the Pathfinder universe with more fighty madness than you can shake a katana at.  That includes three completely new classes that every single gamer out there will froth at the mouth to play:  gunslinger, ninja, and samurai.  Enough new equipment and combat information to take down a small army is included side-by-side with a detailing of vehicular combat and over 250 new feats!  If you’re looking to supplement, and by supplement I mean violently beat to a pulp, your Pathfinder Core Rulebook, Ultimate Combat will do so with murderous glee.

Staying with Pathfinder for a second (music is still optional), three other companions and campaign settings arrived this week, as well.  Learn all things goblin (seriously, I think this thing’ll tell you which side of the bed they sleep on) with the Player Companion, Goblins of Golarion.  Follow that up with a chaser of Pathfinder Society Field Guide, which is like an enrollment manual to the Society, laying out for players and GMs alike, all the details about factions, archetypes, Absalom, and everything else needed to flesh out Society characters and campaigns.  Finally, for dessert, Inner Sea Magic, which delves into the nitty-gritty of everything magic related in the Pathfinder world, including spellcaster history, magical schools, variant magic, along with two oracle mysteries.

Since you’ve already got your otherworldly passport handy after the last items, how about a jaunt into the realms of Dungeons & Dragons.  Today we venture to the realm of Neverwinter (sounds like summer in Lee’s Summit) with the new Neverwinter Campaign Setting hardcover.  This supplemental book is like a travel guide to the region, complete with a massive fold-out map.  But it’s not all just pretty pictures here, the hardcover also gets intricate with pages and pages of minute detail about character themes, cleric domains and powers, race variants, and all sorts of adventure-building materials for Dungeon Masters.  Somehow, with all that, the book still manages to introduce a new wizard type known as a bladesinger.  Oh and, uh, if you haven’t noticed, bit of cross promotion, there’s also a new Neverwinter Fortune Card booster expansion.  Hmm, who’da thought?

You remember playing Mouse Trap as a kid?  The Impossible Machine captures that same sense of inventive insanity as players lay down cards in an attempt to build the most inefficient contraption to perform the most menial of tasks.  For instance, maybe you want to pour a glass of water, well in The Impossible Machine players connect cards that represent components like fans, cogs, catapults, and so on toward the eventual goal of completing the overall task.  Each card has an input and an output arrow to indicate what cards can be connected to it.  The game ends when a player has more points than any other player after three machines have been completed.  Would it be too much of a pun to say this is quite the inventive game?

Brush up on your Smurf dialect before reading this next one, folks.  ’Cause it’s gonna get Smurfy up in this Smurf!

Timed perfectly to the release of the new Smurf movie, No Smurf Left Behind is a collectible board smurf that smurfs as a perfect family gaming experience.  Smurfing like a simplified kid-friendly version of Last Night on Earth, players can choose to play one of the five included Smurfs on their way to the portal home or the Smurily Smurf Gargamel as he attempts to Smurf the Smurfs’ efforts.

And if you Smurf to expand your game (this is where the collectible part comes in), Wizkids has also released a bunch of individual boosters that contain a single painted Smurf figure.  There are eight total, so Smurf that allowance money to collect them all.

So who votes for all future posts to be written in that language?  No takers?  Whew, hallelujah!
