Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their significant others!

All of this can occur in Ragnarok:  Fate of the Norns.  This Kickstarter funded roleplaying game is set in a Viking realm, deep and rich with epic grandeur of Norse mythology.  Made for two to eight players, Ragnarok relies not on dice rolls, but special rune icons (included with the game).

The far-flung future of the Numenera RPG gains its second supplemental book for the game, The Devil’s Spine.  Containing a set of linked adventures, Devil’s Spine can be used to supply singular adventures for the system or the beginnings of a full-on campaign.

Warmachine’s Iron Kingdoms roleplaying system gains a fancy, metal token set this weekend.  The set contains focus, spell, feat, cripple, fire, and many more tokens, all of which are dry-erase compatible, allowing you to mark on them without permanent effect.

Warp speed has been engaged on the Redshirts Deluxe Edition.  Which means someone is going to be beaten to death by a gorn.

This special edition of the game comes complete with entirely new, remastered artwork as well as the To Boldly Go expansion.  For those unfamiliar with the game, each player takes on the role of a starship captain attempting to eliminate all of their own redshirts before any other player can.

The Halloween season is upon us and that includes the King of Tokyo.

King of Tokyo:  Halloween is another new expansion for the hit monster-battle game.  This expansion contains two new monsters, each creepy and Halloween themed, as well as special costume cards that enhance each monster. 

If you’ve ever thought that what the hit deception game, Bang!, was missing is vampires, Blood Bound is the game for you!

Though the company missed out on a huge opportunity to name the game Fang!, Blood Bound is still an awesome group experience where players attempt to figure out who is a vampire and who is a human (among other designations).

Adding more treasures to its booby trapped vault, Fortune and Glory:  The Cliffhanger Game gains an expansion in Rise of the Crimson Hand.  This expansion adds cards to the game decks, detailed villain miniatures, epic city events, and dangers like never before, including the new “deadly tests” option.  Inspired by pulpy adventurers and Indiana Jones, Fortune and Glory is for fans of classic adventure stories.

The Mage Knight board game adds a new ultra baddie in the form of Krang.  Krang is a Orc Chaos Shaman, who is a completely playable character coming complete with a miniature, tokens, and cards.

The second Numenera related game to appear tonight, Thunderstone: Numenera is an entirely stand-alone version of the Thunderstone Advanced system, but set in the world of Numenera, an Earth a billion years in the future.

Family drama increases in Gloom:  Unquiet Dead.

In the game of darkly humored fratricide, players compete to kill their family members in the most horrific ways.  Unquiet Dead adds stories (a new way to kill family members), undead (abilities that let your family become fantastic creatures like werewolves and vampires), and timing symbols (a new feature that effects when actions take place).

Famed game designer Martin Wallace delivers yet another game set in the Discworld of Terry Pratchett.  The Witches:  A Discworld Game has players taking on the roles of trainee witches in either solo, cooperative, or competitive gameplay modes.

Finally, two of the most popular fantasy gaming franchises come together for a singular gaming experience!

Yes, folks, Munchkin Pathfinder is here!

This new base edition of Munchkin comes with Pathfinder-related characters, monsters, items, and other goodies.  And imagine all of that paired with the classic Munchkin wit and John Kovalic’s recognizable artwork.

Andy Diggle and Jock, the superstar creative team behind Green Arrow Year One and The Losers (which is a thousand times better than the film, by the way), lend their talents to a new creator owned series from Image Comics this Wednesday.  Blending political thrillers, Clerks, and gritty noir storytelling, Snapshot is a four issue miniseries bound to thrill you more than once.  When an lifelong nerd employee of a comic store (this is sounding familiar…) finds a cellphone full of grisly images of someone’s murder, he has no other option than to run as fast and as far as he can.  But it’s never that easy is it?  If you’ve been enjoying the sketchy, moody artwork of Jock in the Batman back-up stories or in Scott Snyder’s previous Detective Comics run, The Black Mirror, then Snapshot is your cup of tea.

Sorcery receives a modern update in Top Cow‘s Son of Merlin miniseries.

Building off of the classic Arthurian figures of myth, Son of Merlin picks up when a respected professor of science finds out he’s actually the descendant of the famous wizard, Merlin.  And, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but science and magic don’t exactly see eye-to-eye.  However, before the good doctor can think through his new predicament, he’s being hounded by the immortal Morgan le Fay.  But there’s a whole secret underground society of ancient magic users that might just be willing to come to his aid.  Drawn in the gorgeous, expressive tradition of the famous Top Cow books to come before it like Fathom, Charismagic, and Witchblade, Son of Merlin will cast its spell over you.

I say, my dear Watson, the zombie is a foot!

Though not strictly a Sherlock Holmes versus zombies story, The New Deadwardians is about the closest to it you’ll ever get.  Written by cult favorite author and comic legend Dan Abnett, this post-Victorian England horror/mystery yarn takes places in an alternate reality where, after a zombie infection spread throughout the population, the majority of the remaining English citizens had to submit to becoming vampires in order to fight them off.  Now, it’s the vampires who’ve becoming the upper-class aristocracy while the zombie population are cordoned off on the outskirts of town.  Chief Inspector Suttle, a forever young himself, is tasked with solving a grisly crime, the first in nearly a decade, during a growing zombie uprising.  It’s all elementary from there.

Love is in air for the DC Universe this Wednesday.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day a week early, DC releases its most romantic anthology yet, the Young Romance DC New 52 Special.  Containing six unique stories of famous DC couples like Aquaman and Mera, Midnighter and Apollo, and Catwoman and Batman spending their special day together in the only way superpowered crime fighters can, as well as stories of Wonder Woman, Dick Grayson, and others coming to terms with the relationships they’ve entered into.  Each of the stories is written and drawn by a talented creator, like Andy Diggle, Gene Ha, Ann Nocenti, Kyle Higgins, Becky Cloonan, and Peter Milligan.  And for those old school romantics, the issue comes with usable Valentine’s Day cards.  Oh, amore!

There’s been Star Wars. There’s been world wars. But never has there been anything like Mage Wars. I mean, like, really, this game is pretty damn unique. Players build a spell book of spell cards, doubling up on ones if they want (put you’ll want to pick up the spell expansion pack to do that), with an end goal of decimating you opponent more than they decimate you. Coming with an excellent looking game board, tokens, life counters, and more, this is a well designed and pretty looking game to own.

The chaos can’t be released just yet, but when it does (which is midnight) you better run for cover.

That’s right, the new Chaos Space Marines, well, everything comes out tomorrow (which, again, is midnight). The “everything” of that last sentence includes the new Chaos Space Marines Codex, sporting the new hardcover trade dress. The big guns, that being the Heldrake and the Forgefiend/Maulerfiend, plus the Raptors, Warpsmith, and Mutilators. These guys look b-e-a-utiful! Check out the detail on the Heldrake to the right. Great looking miniatures all around.

If you’re the kind of person who’s ever said they want to experience mind-numbing terror as you evade and escape evil creatures who want to eat your brains? No, probably not, but if you want to play a game like that then Level 7 is your game. A semi-cooperative game for 1-4 players, Level 7 drops you into a subterranean base and makes you work with or betray your partners as you fight to get out. If Last Night on Earth and Panic Station had a slimey, evil baby, Level 7 would be it.

Lately, it’s been a bit of a challenge to be involved in a Cosmic Encounter.

Fantasy Flight has come to the rescue, however, and reprinted the game, yet again. For those unfamiliar with Cosmic Encounter the game is, at base, a colonization game. Each gamer controls a different alien race attempting to spread their empire across the universe, eventually claiming victory if they have colonies on five planets not within their own system. This base version of the game offers a varied amount of alien options, each coming with their speical abilities. Also, as somewhat of an added bonus, this version of the game includes a handful of new alien races to multiply the variety. Snag it before it leaves the galaxy again.

You know that mamby pamby magic guys like Harry Potter and Gandalf like to throw around?

Yeah, this ain’t that. This is EPIC SPELL WARS OF THE BATTLE WIZARDS: DUEL AT MOUNT SKULLZFYRE (and, yes, it has to be in all caps because it’s that amazing)! Not only is every card in this bloody, vicious, heart-stomping, brain-stabbing, lung impaling game drawn by the psychotic artist of the Super Jail cartoon, Nick Edwards, but they also serve your every whim in eviserating your opponents. How does this magical madness work? Simple. Two to six players match firery wits by way of creating spells by combining three cards, ultimately attempting to reduce their enemies to a quivering pile of mush. Dark, demented, and a darn good bit of fun.

Like a darker, deadlier version of Munchkin, the new Locke & Key board game will satisfy both readers of the exceptional comic and lovers of board games. Though play starts cooperatively, by the end of the adventure you may be looking behind you to see who’s stabbing that knife in your back. Keeping with the story of the comic, players will explore Keyhouse, gathering verious keys, then using their abilities to conquer evil ghoulies.

Fun for the whole undead family.
