Unearthed Arcana has once again been unearthed.

In line with the previous Dungeons & Dragons reprint editions, this version of the original first edition Unearthed Arcana hardcover comes printed on shiny golden print pages in a lovely embossed version of the original cover.  This special edition, though reprinting the artwork and original text, also comes with the Dungeon Magazine errata.  All proceeds for this edition of the book go towards the Gary Gygax fund, as well.  And best of all, you don’t have to cast any spells to get it.  Though that might help.

You’ve stayed in the mansion too long, now it’s time to venture outside.

Mansions of Madness:  Call of the Wild expansion features eleven new map tiles that allow you to leave the titular mansion and face off against the unspeakable evils lurking outside.  Of course, new tiles wouldn’t do you much good without additional stories to go along with them, thus the game comes with five brand new story paths.  Each story changes the dynamics of the game like never before, with one even allowing the keeper to explore and solve puzzles.  As with previous expansion packs, the game also comes with entirely new monster and investigator miniatures.

The RuneWars are back on!

After being out of print for an extended period of time, the epic miniature battle game, RuneWars is back in print and better than ever.  This new RuneWars Revised Edition comes with all the same materials of the previous game, but at a cheaper price.  Within the world of the game, two to four players utilize their vast armies, which they’ve recruited, to conquer vast stretches of land and their opponents.  But it’s not all brawn in this game.  Players also must utilize diplomatic skill to negotiate with the land’s inhabitants for assistance.  But at the end of the day, whoever has claimed the most sacred dragon runes becomes the ruler of Terrinoth.

Andy Diggle and Jock, the superstar creative team behind Green Arrow Year One and The Losers (which is a thousand times better than the film, by the way), lend their talents to a new creator owned series from Image Comics this Wednesday.  Blending political thrillers, Clerks, and gritty noir storytelling, Snapshot is a four issue miniseries bound to thrill you more than once.  When an lifelong nerd employee of a comic store (this is sounding familiar…) finds a cellphone full of grisly images of someone’s murder, he has no other option than to run as fast and as far as he can.  But it’s never that easy is it?  If you’ve been enjoying the sketchy, moody artwork of Jock in the Batman back-up stories or in Scott Snyder’s previous Detective Comics run, The Black Mirror, then Snapshot is your cup of tea.

Sorcery receives a modern update in Top Cow‘s Son of Merlin miniseries.

Building off of the classic Arthurian figures of myth, Son of Merlin picks up when a respected professor of science finds out he’s actually the descendant of the famous wizard, Merlin.  And, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but science and magic don’t exactly see eye-to-eye.  However, before the good doctor can think through his new predicament, he’s being hounded by the immortal Morgan le Fay.  But there’s a whole secret underground society of ancient magic users that might just be willing to come to his aid.  Drawn in the gorgeous, expressive tradition of the famous Top Cow books to come before it like Fathom, Charismagic, and Witchblade, Son of Merlin will cast its spell over you.

I say, my dear Watson, the zombie is a foot!

Though not strictly a Sherlock Holmes versus zombies story, The New Deadwardians is about the closest to it you’ll ever get.  Written by cult favorite author and comic legend Dan Abnett, this post-Victorian England horror/mystery yarn takes places in an alternate reality where, after a zombie infection spread throughout the population, the majority of the remaining English citizens had to submit to becoming vampires in order to fight them off.  Now, it’s the vampires who’ve becoming the upper-class aristocracy while the zombie population are cordoned off on the outskirts of town.  Chief Inspector Suttle, a forever young himself, is tasked with solving a grisly crime, the first in nearly a decade, during a growing zombie uprising.  It’s all elementary from there.

Love is in air for the DC Universe this Wednesday.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day a week early, DC releases its most romantic anthology yet, the Young Romance DC New 52 Special.  Containing six unique stories of famous DC couples like Aquaman and Mera, Midnighter and Apollo, and Catwoman and Batman spending their special day together in the only way superpowered crime fighters can, as well as stories of Wonder Woman, Dick Grayson, and others coming to terms with the relationships they’ve entered into.  Each of the stories is written and drawn by a talented creator, like Andy Diggle, Gene Ha, Ann Nocenti, Kyle Higgins, Becky Cloonan, and Peter Milligan.  And for those old school romantics, the issue comes with usable Valentine’s Day cards.  Oh, amore!

Que the title card:

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

And you can fill in the rest. Fantasy Flight‘s Star Wars Edge of the Empire beta edition is the first release of their revitalized Star Wars RPG line. This first volume introduces players to the new system, one which is uniquely designed, sticking with bounty hunter, smuggler characters. Further releases will flesh out the universe as well as introduce a unique dice set. But don’t think the beta edition has left you out in the cold without bantha entrails, it provides a sheet of stickers which allow you to label your own dice with the markings specialized for this system.

If lightsabers and Millenium Falcon’s aren’t your speed (which is, like, nobody), then maybe the new Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Civil War Event Book will suit you. This hardcover must be played with the base MHR book or the premium event book (which we also have), but when combined four to six players can play through the events of Marvel’s Civil War event. That means you can stop Nitro from blowing up Stamford. Or punch Iron Man in the face as Captain America. Basically, you can be whoever you want as you work through the key events of the storyline and it’s tie-in series. Pick a side and get ta fighting.

Here’s your mission: a Union reconnaissance plane has crashed, you must venture to the crash site an uncover what it was searching for, which lays beneath it. Or so says the operation mandate of Tannhauser: Operation Hinansho. This map supplement comes with two campaigns and nine scenarios along with all the tokens, maps, and rules for running them as well as a new set of tactics for all factions involved.

Samurai Battles brings the tactical strategy of feudal Japanese warfare alive with two play options. The Command and Colors version uses Special Dragon cards and tokens to create the feel of a real battle. The Art of Tactic version of the game has players choosing their movements in secret to recreate the actuality of warfare. Not only are the mechanics easy to learn and easier to play, but the game comes with over a hundred fully detailed samurai miniatures and movement bases for each soldier type.
