Who you gonna call?

Well, in the case of The Phantom Society, the ghosts.

The Phantom Society is a fresh take on the haunted house game from Asterion Press.  Playable from two to four players, the game gives you the option of controlling the ghosts or the ghost hunters, both trapped in an aging hotel.  The former group is hellbent on causing destruction and haunting the guests, while the latter what to get famous by trapping some poltergeists.  Just don’t play it with the lights off…cause, you know, it’d be hard to see.

In Trains, the new edition designed by Hisashi Hayashi, players start with a small set of cards, but by building a more effective deck throughout the game, they will be able to place stations and lay rails over the maps of Osaka or Tokyo.  Gain enough points from your railways and you will ultimately manage the most powerful railroads in modern Japan.

Zombies!!! 12:  Zombie Zoo not only adds a new challenge to the Zombies!!! universe, in the form of a zoo challenge, but also six new types of zombies, including lions, tigers, polar bears, hyenas, monkeys, and gorillas.  Each of these undead animals will come between you and your goals, so work quickly!

The fates of the Aztecs, English, French, Japanese, Mongols, and Zulu lie within your grasp.  Social policy cards give governments greater depth and power, while a new combat system makes battles more tactical and tense than ever before.  This expansion also adds new map tiles, new relics, and a new type of building.

The Heroes vs. Monsters Duel Deck contains ten rare cards and two mythic card, including Figure of Destiny, Sun Titan, and Deus of Calamity, as well as a preview card of Polukranos, World Eater, a mythic rare from Theros.  As usual, each of these decks is fully built and ready to play out of the box, a perfect set to learn on if you’re a new player!

With the Veterans of the Seas, the newest Tsuro expansion, you’ll be able to add more excitement to your game with the Tsunami and Uzushio (whirl pool) tiles.  However, this tile set also provides you with hope in the form of Cannons and the Mystic Portal may help you to overcome the devastation and be victorious!

Fire up your hyperdrive and embark on a journey to the farthest regions of the Star Wars galaxy.  Intrepid explorers, scrappy smugglers, and adventuresome academics must harness every skill in their arsenal to evade Imperial forces, thwart their competition, and finally explore – and survive – an uncharted world.  This full length adventure includes all-new adversaries, vehicles, and location ready for play in the Edge of the Empire RPG.

Fluxx the Board Game

“The board game that’s all about change: changing rules, changing goals and now changing tiles. Occupy the right tile spaces to claim the current goal and reveal the next goal… getting you one step closer to victory!”

“It’s more strategic than the original card game and delivers everything you’d expect from a name like Fluxx: The Board Game.  The ever-shifting landscape is made of tiles that can be rotated or uprooted elsewhere on the table.  To win, players must position their pieces on spaces shown on the goal.  Victory requires accomplishing several goals but the exact number needed is subject to change!  Rules changes are tracked on a comprehensive new pegboard.  It’s a game about change where everything can change—from the rules to the gameboard to the color of your pieces!” – www.looneylabs.com

Bushido: Way of the Warrior

“In Bushido: Der Weg des Kriegers (the subtitle means “Way of the Warrior”) players take on the roles of Daimyo, feudal lords in medieval Japan, and compete to become the next shogun of the empire, who gets appointed by the emperor.”

“This game is all about resource management and conflict, but unlike other games in this category you won’t necessarily win, if you conquer the most areas. Your main goal is to earn enough honor, which can be achieved in different ways. There are two kinds of honor. ‘Daimyo-Honor’ is the victory condition and can be directly gained by holding provinces, and indirectly by transforming ‘Samurai-Honor’ at a set rate. ‘Samurai-Honor’ is gained by winning a defensive or offensive battle. It can be transformed into ‘Daimyo-Honor’ with a tea ceremony.” – Board Game Geek

Star Wars LCG: Edge of Darkness expansion

Edge of Darkness is the first deluxe expansion for Star Wars: The Card Game. Its twenty-two new objective sets add 132 total cards that allow players to battle for the fate of the galaxy as either of two new affiliations, the dark side’s Scum and Villainy or the light side’s Smugglers and Spies.”

“Both of these affiliations live at the outskirts of Imperial law, and Edge of Darkness draws heavily from the original Star Wars trilogy as it builds themes centered around the remote planet of Tatooine and the independent mining colony of Cloud City. Edge of Darkness allows you to expand your games of Star Wars with Jawas, Tuskens, bounties, captives, and sabotage. You’ll also find such notable heroes and villains as Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, Greedo, Bossk, and Jabba the Hutt, and you’ll be able explore unheralded new events within the expanded Star Wars universe.” – fantasyflightgames.com
