Tokaido MatsuriThe road grows ever longer with the newest Tokaido expansion. Tokaido Matsuri requires both the base Tokaido game and the Crossroads expansion, but combining all three of them allows players to stop off at the Matsuri or festival. Triggered by the arrival of the Travelers at the intermediate inns, these additions puncture the path with new and unique events. Additionally, the expansion adds sixteen new travelers.Firefly Tall Card

Straight out of the verse, Firefly Tall Card is the authentic card game played by the crew of the Serenity. With rules and artwork taken from the game played by the crew, Tall Card contains over forty five core cards along with an additional fifty cards that allow players to design their own variations on the game. Stick a few rounds of Tall Card in between games of The Firefly Board Game and you’ll practically be a real space smuggler.

Monopoly CthulhuPulp doesn’t often go in for Monopoly games, but when we came across an H.P. Lovecraft inspired version, we couldn’t resist. In the Cthulhu edition of Monopoly, the mythos of Lovecraft comes to life as you travel the board facing elder gods such as Dagon, Yog-Sothoth, and Azathoth. Collect the most insanity points to win the game! Of course, the traditional Monopoly pieces have been replaced, this time with a Cthulhu statuette, the Dagon Dagger, the Necronomicon, and more.

Back to the verse, we have Firefly: Fistful of Credits. A two to four player Firefly Fistful of Creditscooperative game, Fistful of Credits has players stepping into the boots of the Serenity’s crew to pull off a series of dangerous heists in order to gain fortune. The game features three distinct heist scenarios, inspired by the episodes Bushwacked, The Train Job, and Ariel, each with their own highly-detailed board, tokens, and heist cards. Players pair up any two of the nine crew members, to form teams that must race against the clock to complete the job.

Megaman The Board GameFans of retro gaming, pay heed to Mega Man the Board Game, out this weekend. The Blue Bomber must battle against Dr. Wily and his nefarious robots in this adventure board game for two to six players. In the game, players will take control of Mega Man, traversing the gameboard in a similar fashion to classic levels. Of course, the real exciting characteristic of the game is that it includes fully painted models of all your favorite Mega Man characters! And if you have more than six friends wanting to play, just wait a couple of months for the forthcoming Time Man and Oil Man expansion that will increase the total number of players to eight!

Why FirstBecause of irony, Why First? seems like the ideal game to discuss at the outset of New Game Stuff.  Resembling the now out-of-print Magical Athlete racing game, Why First? favors those who come in second.  Players will lay down movement cards to propel them around the track, but will have to strategically attempt to lag behind other players in hopes of coming in second.Munchkin Nightmare Before Christmas

Put on your black eye shadow and run an electric current through your hair to get your Tim Burton on!  The Nightmare Before Christmas edition of Munchkin is here!  In a ghoulish twist on the classic game, players will arm themselves with a vampire teddy, the Mayor’s badge, and bat hat, and charge into battle on Santa’s sleigh.  Become a citizen of Halloween Town, Christmas Town, Thanksgiving Town, or Easter Town.  Try to banish foes The Village Cronesuch as Oogie Boogie, Doctor Finkelstein, and Lock, Shock, and Barrel!

You may want to stay away from pyres, but outside of that The Village Crone from Fireside Games (Castle Panic) can be a rewarding experience.  Ever wanted to put a curse on an annoying acquaintance?  Ever wanted to get ahead in life through magical means?  Well, The Village Crone satisfies those urges.  A worker placement and resource management game at its core, one to six players will attempt to met certain win conditions by mixing potions and cursing townsfolk.Paladin Class Deck Pathfinder Adventure Card Game

The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game expands its characters options this weekend with two new character decks.  First up, is the Paladin Class Deck, which includes a new version of Seelah and two brand new Paladin characters.  Second, we have the Monk Class Deck which also includes a new version of Sajan plus two other Monk characters.  Finally, the fifth Dungeon of FortuneAdventure Deck for the Wrath of the Righteous adventure path, which is the penultimate deck.

TMG had a hit with the dungeon crawl dice game, Dungeon Roll, and now they’ve taken that formula and applied it to a push-your-luck format.  For two to six players, Dungeon of Fortune approximates a descent into a traditional dungeon, full of loot.  Players will compete Firefly Kalidasa expansionwith each other to collect great shares of gold and coins, that will increase the deeper you go.

Arguably the most shiny expansion for the Firefly board game yet, Kalidasa is the second rim space expansion set to be released.  In this expansion, players will receive a new section of gameboard that physically extends the game’s play area.  As well, a new ship model called The Operative’s Corvette is included alongside two new contacts (Magistrate Higgins and Fanty and Mingo).

Camel Up CupA rare two to eight player game, Camel Up is a bidding and dice rolling game centered around a pack of racing camels.  Five camels race around a pyramid while players roll dice to determine the amount of spaces each camel moves.  In between dice rolls, players can bet on their favored camel, earning more points at the end of the game based on how early they placed their bet.  But beware, the camels have a few tricks up their sleeves, including jumping on top of each other. Doomtown New Town New Rules

Roll for the GalaxyIf you can’t tell from the title, Roll for the Galaxy is Rio Grande Games‘ dice variation on the popular Race for the Galaxy card game series.  Roll for the Galaxy uses dice to represent interplanetary settlers as the populated local star systems.  Two to five players will roll their dice in an attempt to manage their settlers in relation to technology and other resources, hopefully coming out on top.Firefly Blue Sun expansion board game

The Verse is a big place and Firefly:  The Game – Blue Sun aims to explore it.  This third expansion for the board game based off of the cult favorite series provides a board extension called The Rim.  This dangerous edge of the galaxy is rough terrain, but comes populated with new missions, crew opportunities, and a new supply planet for players to misbehave in.  And, of course, a new nav deck steers your ship through all of this Reaver populated Dungeon Master's Screen D&D Next 5.0 Dragonsterritory.

Since Gale Force Nine had difficulty keeping their D&D Next/5.0 Dungeon Master‘s screen in print, Wizards of the Coast stepped in and made one themselves.  Frankly, there’s is better.  A four panel, fold-out screen, this hard cardstock accessory provides all of the essential stats and tips a game master needs to keep his players spellbound and struggling along.Star Realms Crisis booster expansion

The Justice League New 52 Batman action figure brought the darkest night a few months ago, but now it’s time for the brightest day as the Green Lantern figure from this series ships this Wednesday. Sculpted off of Hal Jordan‘s new costume, the figure presents all of Jim Lee’s detailed pencil work in one stunning figure. If you’re planning to collect the entire team, this is a must grab!

What do you get when you cross Serenity, Doctor Who, Astonishing X-Men, and Greg Pak? Actually, it’s an unfair question because the comic I’m talking about doesn’t come out until Wednesday, but if you’re up on your X-Men news, you’ll know the answer is X-Treme X-Men. This new ongoing series by Planet Hulk writer Greg Pak follows a trio of alternate reality versions of Wolverine, Emma Frost, and Nightcrawler. So, come join Captain Howlett, Emmeline Frost, and Kid Nightcrawler as they jump from dimension to dimension tracking down lost X-Men and trouble as they go. Oh, and for those collectors out there, we will be getting the limited Salvador Larroca variant cover, which you can admire to your right.

Finishing out the night we’ve got two new works from up-and-coming comic superstar Jeff Lemire. Lemire is garnering much deserved acclaim for his work on DC‘s Animal Man and Frankenstein series as well as his post-apocalyptic road story, Sweet Tooth, so when he’s got a new one-shot story for DC coming out this Wednesday, you should take notice. National Comics Kid Eternity is the launching point for a new stand-alone series set to re-introduce forgotten DC characters. This first issue, drawn by Cully Hamner (RED), introduces Kid Eternity, a medical examiner who has to solve a murder mystery in twenty-four hours. A great story in a one-and-done package, folks.

Lemire’s newest graphic novel also drops this week. The Underwater Welder follows in the footsteps of Lemire’s other meditative graphic novel work (The Nobody, Lost Dogs) as it follows a professional diver and expecting father who is coming to terms with the burgeoning pressures of becoming a father. The further he drifts downward to the ocean floor the more he forgets his wife and future son…until something supernatural occurs. Written and drawn by Lemire in his recognizable concise, sketchy style, The Underwater Welder is receive buzz as one of the best pieces of comic art this year.
