Dungeon Roll Legends Hero Booster Pack 2Another party of adventurers joins the Dungeon Roll!

The Dungeon Roll Legends Hero Booster Pack #2 provides eight entirely new heroes to be mixed into the popular dungeon crawl dice game.  These heroes, however, are far beefier than any of the previous heroes, so make sure to play them against each other or in a situation where other players are looking for a challenge.Deus board game

Deus is Latin for God, making it a perfect name for the new hand management where players pray to their society’s deities through offerings.  Deus begins with players receiving a hand of five cards, randomly featuring one of six colors.  Each color represents a resource (military, trade, temples, etc.), which is then used to construct buildings in honor of the gods.  These buildings are placed on a variable board (whose dimensions are Village Port Expansiondecided by the number of players) in order to acquire points and gain victory.

The boundaries of the popular Tasty Minstrel Game release, Village, continue to grow.  Village:  Port is the newest expansion for the game and it is a sizable one.  Not only does Port give players the option of boarding a skiff and sailing the seas in order to find buried treasure, but also new life goal cards that allow players to choose career options for their characters.Chez Geek Slack to the Future

It’s taken Steve Jackson a bit of time to get another Chez Geek expansion out on the shelves, but, to be fair, the game is about who can be the laziest.  Like a slacker cousin to the popular Munchkin franchise, Chez Geek has players earning slack points for doing as little as they can.  Slack to the Future, the creatively titled expansion that hits shelves this weekend includes fifty-six new jobs, Aqua Spherefriends, food, and activities that can be used to acquire “slack” in the game.

While it may not be as insane as Sealab 2021, AquaSphere is still a frantic game of underwater area control.  Players compete to collect data regarding the ocean.  Every player controls a team of researchers (comprised of a scientist, engineer, robots, and submarines) across to halves of the game board (a lab and headquarters).  Gathering knowledge points moves you closer to winning and to do so players must expend actions to observe octopuses, expand your lab, or increase your team’s abilities.Hanabi Deluxe

Hanabi, among the most popular cooperative games on the market, gains a deluxe edition this weekend.  Deluxe Hanabi plays exactly like the original, with player working together to create a fireworks display.  The trick is that each player can see everyone but their own fireworks, requiring everyone to describe and hint at what each other has.  The Deluxe Hanabi edition replaces the standard cards with Mahjong tiles, reflecting the Eastern influence and setting of the game.

Why type about Castellan when I can post a video?

Stefan Feld, creator of Bruges and The Castles of Burgundy, brings Bora Bora to the table today.  A dice-rolling, worker placement game, Bora Bora has players roll dice to gain workers which they must place carefully over a course of limited actions.  The amount of actions per turn is decided by the number of players, anywhere from two to four.

Rise of Augustus, created by Paolo Mori (Pocket Battles), is an objective-based gaming experience where players are dealt six objective cards at the beginning of a game, each of which will be replaced as they are completed.  As objectives are completed, players will earn specific rewards, detailed on each card.  When seven objectives have been completed by a player, the game is over.

And you will walk a thousand miles, and I will walk a thousand more…in Tokaido!  From the creator of 7 Wonders, comes this colorful, beautifully designed and illustrated game about traveling down Japan’s East Sea Road.  The last player in line gets too choose which space they want to move to and complete the action on that space.  Whoever reaches the end of the track first, obtains victory!

With Halloween around the corner, Munchkin inevitably has to release a special seasonal booster.  And low, Munchkin Tricky Treats.  This fifteen card booster pack contains cards, like Zombie Costume, Favorite Machete, and Sparkly Vampire!

Also from Stefan Feld, The Pillars of the Earth:  Builder’s Duel is a new expansion for the game.  The goal is simple:  one player is attempting to build a cathedral, the other a fortress, the player who finishes construction first wins.  But, of course, each must collect materials before building can commence, and in order to do so action cards must be played.

Cubicle 7 continues racing through space and time as they release the Second Doctor Source Book for the Doctor Who RPG!  Each of these source books contain detailed character information for their titular Doctor, his companions, his enemies, and his TARDIS.  Each hardcover also contains plot synopses and adventure details for each episode in the titular Doctor’s seasons, acting as a valuable resource for game master’s as well as avid Doctor Who fanatics.

Goblins where so last season.

The Pathfinder Battles mini assortments have risen from the dead with a brand new (and decaying) Undead Horde assortment.  Like the recent Goblins assortment, each box contains twenty-four random, individual miniatures, hidden in blind bags.  Grab one and take the chance of getting figures like the Graveknight, Wight, Mummy Lord, and Lady Ghoul!

After a long hibernation, the Dirtboys, Gargoyles, and Dukes are back and better than ever!

Shadowrun 5th Edition has been talked about and talked about for months, but now it is here.  The updated and re-illustrated core rulebook is ready to take on a whole new generation of runners!

Keyflower:  Key Celeste

With Key Celeste added to the game, players bid for the Key Celeste tile and obtain the ghost in the same way that they bid for the turn order tiles. The owner of the ghost can use it to frighten away and replace another player’s winning bid. The player who played the ghost takes the replaced worker(s) and places them behind his screen. Mascarade

The goal of the game is for players to gain the most gold pieces that they will amass either by telling the truth, or alternatively, bluffing. Players each receive a Character card, that they will switch, or not, with their opponents throughout the game play. Just like in an Indiana Jones movie, just when you think you’re out of the tomb, the floor collapses and you fall into bed of snakes.

Such is the concept behind the new expansion pieces for Escape.  If you haven’t heard of this popular Queen Game, it’s a real-time adventurer where every player goes at the same time, attempting to collect as many the tomb’s hidden gems as they can before the clock runs out.  Hitting stores after being given out as Kickstarter incentives, The Pit and Doomed are the first expansion pieces for the game.  Both provide new tiles which represent additional deadly rooms in the temple.  The Pit traps players down a deep hole after they’ve rolled five curses.  Doomed provides two new curses and one new tile, all with exciting properties.

The only option is Zombicide.

A co-operative survival game, Zombicide is a catch-22 run amok as players must kill more zombies to earn skill points, but killing zombies only results in more zombies.  The other tricky thing is that there will inevitably be more undead than you have bullets, so you’re really going to want to earn up those skill points to buy more ammo and weapons.  This popular Kickstarter joins and outpaces many of the other zombie games out there.  So, lock and load, folks.

All is fair in love and war.  AEG‘s Love Letter is a reality dating show dropped into the Renascence.  A group of eligible bachelors compete for the hand of a stunning princess who’s locked herself in the castle’s highest tower.  The only way you can lay your flirtatious mojo on her is through alluring prose delivered via letter.  Of course, all the other prospective suitors had the same idea, so you will have to find ways of intercepting and destroying their letters.  But don’t focus all your attention on the other players as your letters can be turned to ash just as quickly.  Start working on those pick-up lines, gentlemen.

The Tome of Blood is at your disposal, Lord Khorne.

The most recent hardcover edition to the Black Crusade line of Warhammer 40K RPG books details every tool you’ll need to praise the Blood God!  That includes four new Heretic archetypes, plus all the weapons, armaments, and Daemon Engines to empower them.  As another added bonus of pain and suffering, players of any alignment can develop Legacy Weapons and fight in Mass Combats.  Along with all this carnage comes new settings like the pits of Kurse, Furia’s savage oceans, Berin and Aspodel, as well as the War Moons of Talax.  Pile up those skulls, cause Khorne needs a seat.

Wallenstein is nothing like Frankenstein.  Word to the wise.

It is however very much like a good game.  This second edition of the game receives a rules touch up as well as the addition of two expansions for the game.  As players compete for points by controlling the largest amount of land and real estate, two years pass (don’t worry, in game time only) wherein shortages of food, peasant revolts, and any number of other hardships will beset your kingdom.  An interesting randomizing element is used to decide when and where these obstacles hit, that being a tower which you roll tokens down, some of which catch, some of which drop to the bottom.  These tokens then decide what happens where.  Players also carefully stratagize about how to use the action cards given them in order to obtain the most property.

Competing with Marvel’s Legacy Deck-Building Game, the new DC Deck Building Game lets players control one of seven famous DC characters.  That means you can be Batman.  Or Wonder Woman.  Or Green Lantern.  Each hero controls a special ability unique to them, giving them advantages toward certain card types.  Those other types include superpowers, heroes, villains, equipment, and locations.  During the game, each player vies cards which will assist their deck against the powers of the villains you all are fighting.  For instance, you might want to be bulletproof if you’re going up against Deathstroke.  Or have super speed if you need to race a bomb out into the ocean.  Basically, you get to play the comics you love.  Yeah, I’m picking up a copy, too.
