Every member of The Avengers is pretty dang cool, but there’s only two of them that get to carry around sweet weapons. And one of them is coming into the store this Wednesday.

So, for any little ones out there looking to be the good Captain this Halloween, you might want to swing by and shield up this coming week. Coming straight from this summer’s biggest blockbuster, these kid’s sized Captain America shields are based directly off of the official design and made of sturdy plastic for all your nazi smacking needs. I wouldn’t recommend trying to deflect any bullets with it, though.

One of the summer’s other big comic films also has a swanky collectible coming out this week and that’s the sweet Amazing Spider-Man Movie Statue to the right. Based off of the well-desined costume redux from the film, this statue is shaped in the dynamic window strattling pose so often struck by the web-slinger. The kisser here, though, is that this baby is cheap, cheap for a statue of this size. So, spin a web line on down to Pulp and snag your friendly neighborhood Spidey.

If eight seasons isn’t enough for you, the Supernatural trade paperback coming out this Wednesday will sooth your aching nerd-bone. Written by Brian Wood, that’s right the Brian Wood of DMZ, Massive, Ultimate X-Men, and Local, and drawn by KC local Grant Bond, this miniseries is a cross-ocean road trip starring Sam Winchester as he explorers the UK in search of an alluring femme fatale ghostie. As the previous Supernatural collections have sold quickly and gone out of print for extended periods of time, you’ll be best off if you grab a copy as fast as you can.

This week is a big one for DC as four annuals launch this Wednesday directing their books into bold, new directions. Green Lantern, Detective Comics, The Flash, and Superman may be the four oversized reads hitting shelves, but it’s Aquaman that gets the coolest cover. Celebrating Seth Green’s DC Robot Chicken Special airing on September 9th, Aquaman #12 receives a special Robot Chicken variant cover where the oft-insulted character finally gets his due.

Last night we had a special guest host in the form of Game Stuff Robot, but tonight we will be talking about his extended family. Who also, as it goes, have the ability to speak.

That’s right, if you think genocidal trash cans who want to conquer the universe are just the cutest thing around, then you’re going to love snuggling with the Red Dalek Plush. Not only is he/she/it(?) lovable as hell, but also quite vocal. With familiar phrases such as “EXTERMINATE!”, “YOU ARE AN ENEMY OF THE DALEKS, YOU MUST BE DESTROYED!”, and other exclamatory phrases such as that. Share your love with an plunger-handed alien today!

IDW really needs to contact an exterminator, because they are infested again. If you read the first series (Infestation) where a number of IDW‘s famous characters faced off against zombies, then you’ll be prepared for this go around where they battle Cthulhu and his minions. But who are the “they” this time around? Well, the Transformers and G.I. Joes return (this time from the famous Heart of Steel universe), but are joined by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Danger Girls, characters from the Dungeons & Dragons universe, and 30 Days of Night. Not sure about you, but I can’t even imagine the epicness of all these characters crossing over with one another!  You’ll just have to pick up Infestation II #1 to prove to your brain it’s real.

Speaking of epic awesomeness, the new hardcover collection of Geoff Johns and James Robinson’s oft forgot Hawkman run hits shelves Wednesday. Though the book doesn’t get mentioned in the same breath as JSA or Green Lantern or Justice League, it should be. Johns and Robinson both delve into Hawkman‘s backstory, streamlining it, and setting him against ancient evils and buried baddies. With artwork from Rags Morales (New 52′s Action Comics), Hawkman pops with violent, emotive visuals along with the Indiana Jones-esque story lines. If you’ve enjoyed what Johns has been doing on Justice League or Aquaman currently, then you should check the origin of his writing style in the Hawkman Omnibus.

Finally, tonight, possibly the book I’m more excited about than any other this year, the first volume of the new ongoing Avatar the Last Airbender comic. Dark Horse is choosing an unusual, yet fitting, format for this book by releasing them as thick digest volumes over the next couple of months. This first volume is called The Promise (Part 1 of a trilogy) and it catalogs events that occur after the end of the series involving Aang, Katara, Sakka, and Zuko working to keep political unrest at a minimum for fear of starting another war. These stories will all bridge the gap between the old series and the new Legend of Korra sequel to premiere on Nickelodean this year. If you’re a fan of the show like me, then you’ll just be happy to feed your addiction for Avatar material, no matter the format.

HELLO. TONIGHT GAME STUFF ROBOT WILL EXPLAIN.

PROCESSING….PROCESSING…

FIRST GAME IS POWER GRID: THE ROBOTS. IT IS 10110011! HAHA! ROBOT HUMOR!

THIS EXPANSION IS COMPATIBLE WITH TWO PLAYERS, BUT IF DESIRED, YOU MAY PLAY WITH UP TO 5. EACH ROBOT PIECE IS COMPRISED OF TILES. THESE TILES EXPLAIN THE RULES AND ACTIONS OF EACH ROBOT SO THAT PLAYERS MAY USE THEM AS INANIMATE OPPONENTS. DO NOT LAUGH AT ROBOT, THEY ARE SERIOUS OPPONENT. THEIR SPECIAL ABILITIES GIVE THEM BENEFITS THAT OUTWEIGH NORMAL PLAYERS. ALSO…

DESTROY ALL HUMANS! DESTROY! DESTROY! DES…***

Sorry about that. Some times he gets overworked.

So, anyway, back to just us humans.

Well, humans and hobbits and elves and orks, anyway. Releasing its second edition, War of the Ring finally returns to the shelves today. What used to be a scrictly two player game has now expanded up to four (don’t worry, though, you can still play one-on-one), but the gameplay of Free Peoples versus Sauron’s legions is still intact. One side plays the “good guys” attempting to battle Sauron and get the ring to Mordor, while the other side plays Sauron’s forces, searchig across the land for beings to slaughter. The 205 miniatures included along with the board have been updated with intricate detail and design.

But don’t kick yourself if you’ve already bought the first edition and are feeling left out. Ares Games has you in mind. In fact, they’ve created a special conversion kit just so you can keep using your copy of the first edition. Coming in a sturdy tin container the kit comes with all the good and evil forces cards you will need to update your game along with specially sized sleeves to protect all of them. Now that’s thinking ahead.

Well, guess that’s all…wait, no, don’t…Aaaagggghhh!

EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! GAME STUFF ROBOT WILL EXTERMINATE ALL HUMANS!
