By being the One Ring RPG dice and being located at Pulp Fiction Comics & Games. These speciality dice for the popular roleplaying game do not get released to the general market until August, but because we know people who know people who know the president (or something like that), we’ve got them three months early. This dice set contains six uniquely designed D6′s and a D10, all with special elven writing.

Maybe the biggest release of the week comes from Pathfinder with the Advanced Race Guide. This new hardcover edition details a plethora of different and varied races for the popular fantasy RPG as well as including a section that allows players to create their own race.

In addition to this release, Pathfinder also shipped the Rise of the Runelords Face Card deck coming with over fifty illustrated cards depicting famous characters from the game. The Skull and Shackles Adventure Path also sees the third of six books released, Tempest Rising, as well as a Poster Map Folio.

Finally, the Lord of the Rings LCG sees its newest adventure pack ship this week. Foundations of Stone contains cards 101-127 of the Dwarrowdelf cycle, each of which is designed to augment your existing deck and advance the narrative.

We’ve practically had to fight off the descending hoards of rabid Quarriors fans this week in anticipation the new expansion.

Well, we’re still alive and Quarmageddon is here. This new add-on expansion for the base game offers not only 40 original dice which power 6 new creatures, a new immunity ability, and 2 new spells, but an entirely new set of rules to be applied to the game. And if Quarriors is an insane made up word to you, because, one, it is, and, two, you’ve never played the game, it’s deck building with dice combined with a fair amount of snark.

Bandai takes the skills it acquired developing their hit Resident Evil Deck Building Game and apply them to another popular gaming franchise, Uncharted. In the Uncharted card/board game players take on the role of characters from throughout the three existing Uncharted games. While collecting and battling against various action, treasure, and enemy cards, players acquire victory points, eventually leading to a winner. Borrowing elements from the Resident Evil games, Uncharted spins them in a fresh way, recreating the feel of the video games.

It’s that time again, the time when Dungeons & Dragons adds a new edition to their vast mansion of tiled dungeons. This time around Wizards presents them in a stunning Urban Underdark hue, coming with six sheets of flooring material for to add a layer of cozy, dank creepiness to your next campaign.

What game through yonder RPG breaks? Or something like that.

The works of The Bard (that’s Shakespeare to you uncouth individuals) have been applied to a witty, brilliant new Indy storytelling game called The Play’s the Thing. Similar to Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple and Fiasco, The Play’s the Thing revolves around a playwright/actor structure where one gamer takes on the role of the playwright, assigning roles and constructing the story. Each actor (Hams, Leads, Villains, and Ingenues) suggest and act out alterations to the story as they play through, often altering classic tales for the wackier.

Queen Games keeps their streak of inventive strategy games going with Edo. Set in the Japan landscape of 1603 to 1868. Each player takes on the role of a Daimyo, building houses and castles, trading goods, and increasing their reputation to the Shogun. Beautifully laid out and designed, Edo should find a good home next to your copies of Samarkand and Fresco.

Bad guys have all the fun. Luckily, you can get in on all the Hobbit murdering shenanigans of Sauron’s Nazgul in the new Lord of the Rings: Nazgul Heroclix game. Taking on the role of the hooded riders, players build allegiances, strategize, and, ultimately, keep the One Ring from falling into the pits of Mount Doom. And, if you own the previously released LotR Heroclix, you can incorporate them into the game.

Can you believe The Avengers comes out next Friday?

Seems like I’ve been waiting for that movie come out my whole life, but no matter how close it gets it still feels too far away. Luckily, Wizkids a new set of Avengers Heroclix to tide me and everyone else over. Just like they have done with Green Lantern, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek, The Avengers set is out in a base starter set (containing six of the core team) and individual booster boxes. All of these figures can be simply collected or you can play them as a miniature battle game. The starter set even comes with maps and rules to complete the gaming experience. With sixteen figures to collect overall, you better start now to assemble all The Avengers.

Following last week’s Fantasy Flight Lord of the Rings and Star Wars card sleeves, this week’s new set of sleeves depict another popular Sci-Fi/Fantasy franchise: Game of Thrones. Both sleeve types come with fifty sleeves, one displaying John Snow, the other Melisandre.

Or if you’re not into George R.R. Martin‘s fantasy series, there are new sleeves depicting Cthulhu, DungeonQuest imagery, and artwork from the popular co-op board game, Red November. All of these sleeves are standard sized, designed to fit most common CCGs, LCGs, and basic card game cards.

Popular game designer Reiner Knizia has created a slew of fantastic board games, such as Lost Cities, but his newest game is the Black Sheep of the bunch. A great, easy to learn card-based game intended for the whole family, Black Sheep has players collecting sets of animal cards, trying for better combinations than their opponents, and corralling them in their pens. Ah, but the black sheep is ready at every turn to ruin your hand. In line with family games like Zoolerreto, Black Sheep is a perfect edition for game night.

Close, close in a gaming store not so far away…

So, play Magic with the man who shot first or catch’em all with Lord Vader or throw them on any other card game that needs some sci-fi spice. But whatever you do, pick them up before an X-Wing comes along and vaporizes them because there will not be any prequels here.

Of course, if space battles and laser swords aren’t your thing, maybe the other limited edition Lord of the Rings sleeves will be. Slip them over your favorite standard sized cards to give them a Samwise Gamgee to their Frodo Baggins. Or grasp the One Ring to rule all other swag-less individuals. Whatever you choose, wield them responsibly.

So, players can enjoy Eldar God gaming goodness in the base 2-4 player version of the game or combine it with the previous game for excessive nerd overload. Bridging books and board games, the Where the Wild Things Are board game from the Tales to Play series, lets families take control of Max’s journey to the land of the Wild Things. Each player controls a different Max miniature game piece on his trek through the becoming king of the Wild Things. Players draw cards and roll dice to decide their success or failure across the illustrated game board. Great gameplay and Wild Thing miniatures for the whole family.
