Heroes WantedWho cares that you never went to college or that you’re five months past due on rent, anyone can be a superhero!

Heroes Wanted is a hand management card game for one to five players about the process of becoming Zeta City’s most beloved crime fighter!  Players design their own personal costumed vigilante with the selection of two unique hero cards, then set out to defeat major bad guys and their hordes of evil minions.  The player who does the best, gaining the most victory points, will become the champion of Zeta City!  The Extra!  Extra! and Champions and Masterminds expansions are also available!Among the Stars board game

Taking place in the wreckage of a post-interstellar war, Among the Stars is about rebuilding the galactic alliance.  Two to four players represent various alien races attempting to keep the peace by constructing trade-based space stations.  Players draft cards in order to attain important components for the space station’s construction, which then are represented by a tile-laying Shadowrun Crossfirecomponent.

Hot on the heels of Pathfinder the Adventure Card Game and D&D Lords of Waterdeep, Shadowrun Crossfire is the newest board gaming experience born from a popular roleplaying system.  Shadowrun Crossfire is a cooperative deck building game where players work together as a ragtag group of shadowrunners completing shady missions and taking down evil corporate entities.  Players earn upgrades for their characters as they progress and complete missions.Pathfinder Skull and Shackles Adventure Card Game

Speaking of the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, Skull and Shackles, the newest base expansion for the highly popular RPG card game releases this weekend.  If you’re unfamiliar with the game, Piazo Publishing has adapted their popular RPG system into card game mechanics, with a group of players using decks of cards to represent their characters.  As the players fight their way through the adventure path (competing against NPC decks of cards), their decks grow by gaining additional stat cards.  The Skull and Shackles base set provides the additional cards needed to begin running this particular adventure path.

Fantasy Flight, much like The Khaleesi, continues to march forward with new Adventure Packs.  The Kingsguard is out today and is the third part of the Kingsroad cycle.  As per usual, the deck contains sixty original cards, many of which enhanced the game’s Shadow mechanic.

Piazo unleashed a near truckload of Pathfinder books this weekend, including the Bestiary 4 hardcover.  The rest of this mountain of books includes:

Pathfinder RPG: Reign of Winter Pawn Collection

Pathfinder RPG: Blood of the Moon
Pathfinder RPG: Seedy Tavern Flip-Mat
Pathfinder RPG: Dungeon Corridors Map Pack

As well, the hotly anticipated second expansion pack for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, The Skinsaw Murders, also launched this weekend.  While supplies last, each purchase of The Skinsaw Murders receives a limited edition Blessing of Zarongel promo card.

Nearly a collector’s item before they even go on sale, the Magic the Gathering 2013 Commander Decks are in limited supply and desperately sought after.  These decks come pre-built for the Commander/EDH format, which are comprised of 100 cards (only one of each) and a general/commander card that is in charge of them.  A rising format in MtG, these Commander Decks allow you to catch up without have to hunt down tons of expensive cards.

Hopefully you’ve got some extra space in that airplane hanger in your backyard because Wings of Glory unleashes a full fleet of new plane miniatures.  Included within these three new planes is the much anticipated Mustangs.  For those technical junkies out there, here’s the official titles for each plane:

Wings of Glory WWII: Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate (Fujimoto)

The Walking Dead has pervaded nearly ever aspect of culture since it first showed up on AMC, and so it’s about dang time it received that final test of pop culture-dom:  a Risk game.  If you haven’t played Risk you’re obviously an alien, so it’s pretty easy to imagine how this version is an appropriation of Walking Dead‘s characters and locations by the regional warfare of Risk.

One of the best family games ever created, Carcassonne, receives two new additions this weekend.  First up, another version of the base game, set, however, during a harsh winter instead of the lush spring.  This Carcassonne Winter Edition also includes the Gingerbread expansion.  Along with this is another collection of previously released expansions, including the Count, King, and Robber.

Morels gets you high.  High on board games!

I’m aware how corny that intro was, but this game is, in actuality, about mushrooms, not corn.  Morels is one of the rare entries into the two-player game category, so it’s double the awesome for also being a great game.  Each player controls two decks of cards, a night and day deck.  Each of these contain various types of shrooms to be grown or eaten during these distinct periods of the day.  The types of mushrooms cooked, and what they are cooked with, earns players different points toward a victory goal.

The Serpents and the Wolf is the first expansion for the board game adaptation of the popular Starz television series, Spartacus.  Within this expansion set are two completely new houses, Varinius and Seppius, as well as hordes of new armors, combatants, and weapons.  In the bloody arenas of Rome, players pit two teams of gladiators against each other in violent combat, until only one team remains standing.

To make sure you don’t have to find out why they smell worse on the inside, you’re going to want to pick up the fourth Force Pack expansion for Fantasy Flight‘s Star Wars LCG card game.  Six original objective sets are included within the pack, focusing the action on Walkers, troops, shields, and careful management of how damage is dealt.  Join the Assault on Echo Base by picking up this newest expansion pack.

Discerning DMs pay heed to Pathfinder‘s NPC Codex Box.

Like the previous token boxes Piazo has released, this one contains over 300 tokens and stands of varying sizes.  Each token is represented in full color art pulled directly from the NPC Codex.  Make sure your game is engrossing and clear by picking up these essential pawns.

It’s all about the bad guys in the Enemies of the Imperium!

The most recent supplemental hardcover for Only War, Enemies of the Imperium details hundreds of NPC beings that stand in the way of the Imperial Guard, along with their methods of combat so that the GM can employ them correctly in battle.  Squad-level combat is also detailed in the book, giving the option for giant formation fights.
