Hostage NegotiatorYou’ve seen it in countless cop films:  the hostage stand-off!  Now play it, in Hostage/Negotiator.  In the game, players uses Conversation Cards to carry out several conversation with the Abductor.  You’ll resolve cards by rolling dice and your success or failure largely depends on yoru ability to control the Abductor’s Threat Level.  In the meantime, you’ll need to acquire more Conversation points so that you can buy more cards.  Above all, you must save the hostages!  After each conversation you’ll resolve a Terror Card My First Bohnanzamaking your objective even more difficult.

With My First Bohnanza, even younger children will be able to learn the popular bean collecting card game in small steps.  We introduce ten new types of beans – just for The Lord of the Rings Escape from Mount Grimkids – and they can begin their bean farmer journey earning gold coins.

Escape from Mount Gram is the newest adventure pack for the Lord of the Rings Living Card Game.  In this Adventure Pack, players will find sixty cards that expand the Angmar Awakened series.  The contents of the pack are designed to augment existing decks and add an entirely new scenario for players.

The DC Deck Building universe expands doubly this weekend with both the Teen Titans and Justice Society of America expansions.DC Deck Building Game Teen Titans

First up, the Teen Titans Go! expansion contains over two hundred new cards as well as a new “ongoing” mechanic.  With this mechanic, players can now save their best cards for when they really need them and when ready, unleash everything they’ve got.  As is standard anymore, this big box expansion also DC Deck Building Game Justice Society of Americacontains a special promo card.

A smaller, cheaper expansion, the JSA Crossover Pack can be added to any previous or future DC Deck Building expansion.  This smaller Crossover Pack only contains additional character cards to be added to the game, including Doctor Fate, Jay Garrick Flash, Alan Scott Green Lantern, Power Girl, Stargirl, Mr. Terrific, and Wildcat!Quantum board game

Quantum is an epic game of strategy and conquest for two to four fleet commanders (players).  Each die is a starship; a six is a swift but fragile scout, while a one is a slow but devastating battlestation.  To win players will need to construct quantum cubes that will evolve your fleet as you go.  Endlessly customizable, players can create their own maps or Litko Game Accessoriesplay on any of the thirty unique ones included in the game.

Not entirely official, yet no less beneficial, Litko Game Accessories has released a set of plastic markers, tokens, and rulers for the Fantasy Flight X-Wing miniature game.  Out this weekend, these accessories include a deluxe gauge set, space shield tokens, focus tokens, target lock tokens, ion tokens, and stress tokens, some in a variety of colors.Star Wars Force Destiny core rulebook

Lastly, but nowhere near least(ly), we’ve got a trio of long overdue Star Wars Roleplaying Game items.

First up, the hardcover core rulebook for the Force and Destiny expansion to the Star Wars RPG.  This complete tabletop RPG dives into the struggle between light and dark sides Star Wars Force Destiny GM Kitof the Force.  Craft a lightsaber, free the oppressed and downtrodden, and duel dreaded agents of the Sith in the conflict to bring balance to the Force.

Supporting that hardcover core rulebook is the Force and Destiny Game Master’s Kit.  Included in this Kit are complete construction rules for building lightsabers, brand new rules concernging Knight-level play, and a deluxe GM’s screen with the most commonly-referencedForce Destiny Star Wars Imperials Rebels Adversary Deck rules.

The final release rounding out the Force and Destiny barrage are the Adversary decks.  Six in total, these card packs include a minimum of twenty cards that represent various NPC characters that can be encounter in-game.  Out this weekend are the Imperials and Rebels, Scum and Villany, and Citizens of the Galaxy decks, as well as the Critical Hit and Injury decks.

Classic dungeon crawling adventuring is combined with mix-and-match optioning with the throw-back RPG system, Dungeon World.  A successful Kickstarter product, Dungeon World is an approachable role playing system that is contained in a single book that allows players to assemble, altered, remove, and augment rules, classes, races, NPCs, monsters, and more.  A great introductory fantasy RPG!

The Warmachine Vengeance softcover edition brings a new layer to the sordid tale Khador, Cygnar, Cryx, and the other factions.  Within this volume are stats and information for new Warcasters, units, solos, a painting guide, and a theme force list that offers information on how to construct armies around specialized forces.

Conflict rages within the Damocles Gulf corner of the Warhammer universe.

A new Apocalypse War Zone supplement, the Damocles HC, provides players the information needed to reenact this major conflict, including the historical background of Shadowsun‘s attack on the Gulf, a detailed explanation of The Battle of Agrellan Prime, a selection of new rules, missions, and strategic assets, and eighteen datasheets for various faction-based forces.

Hulk smashes, why can’t you?

Smash Up receives another expansion this weekend, which, as is the case with all the game’s expansions, adds a four entirely new and entirely random genres of cards.  Science Fiction Double Feature includes Time Travelers, Cyborg Apes, Super Spies, and Shapeshifters.  Slam them together (or with decks from previous expansions) and get to fighting!

It’s all for one and one for all in the newest expansion for The Duke!

The Musketeers expansion includes tiles representative of D’Artagnon, Aramis, Porthos, and four other Musketeer characters.  As well, the expansion alters players’ starting hand as well as particular tile laying mechanics.  Alongside this expansion is the Arthurian Legends set.  As with the former set, Arthurian Legends includes tiles representative of Arthur, Merlin, Lancelot, and others, as well as rules which allows asymmetrical opposing forces.

The Pathfinder library grows by three books this weekend.

First up is The Midnight Isles from the Wrath of the Righteous adventure set.  This contains a adventure for twelfth level characters as well as four new monsters.  Second, a player companion entitled The Magical Marketplace, which includes information on shop owners, magical tattoos, as well as descriptions of alternate forms of payment.  Finally, we have the Inner Sea NPC Codex containing over sixty characters, ready-made for game master needs.

The steampunky miniature battle game receives an update of all its factions, stories, and characters, a perfect entry point for any new player.

Take one down and pass it around, there’s still three new Red Dragon Inns on the wall!

Red Dragon Inn 4, the fourth large expansion for the game, takes the shenanigans of the previous editions out to sea, providing a new set of adventurers in the form of Captain Whitehawk, First Mate Remy, Bryn the Boatswain, and Tara the Navigator.  As well, the expansion allows for encounters to occur during the celebration!

Along with this large expansion come two Allies expansions, including Cormac the Mighty and Witchdoctor Natyli.  Cormac is a human barbarian who gains alcohol content for being capable of striking harder.  Natyli, as a master of wizardry, can weaken other players enabling her to successfully attack from a minimal strength.

Morels gets you high.  High on board games!

I’m aware how corny that intro was, but this game is, in actuality, about mushrooms, not corn.  Morels is one of the rare entries into the two-player game category, so it’s double the awesome for also being a great game.  Each player controls two decks of cards, a night and day deck.  Each of these contain various types of shrooms to be grown or eaten during these distinct periods of the day.  The types of mushrooms cooked, and what they are cooked with, earns players different points toward a victory goal.

YOU!  ARE!  SPARTACUS!

The Serpents and the Wolf is the first expansion for the board game adaptation of the popular Starz television series, Spartacus.  Within this expansion set are two completely new houses, Varinius and Seppius, as well as hordes of new armors, combatants, and weapons.  In the bloody arenas of Rome, players pit two teams of gladiators against each other in violent combat, until only one team remains standing.

To make sure you don’t have to find out why they smell worse on the inside, you’re going to want to pick up the fourth Force Pack expansion for Fantasy Flight‘s Star Wars LCG card game.  Six original objective sets are included within the pack, focusing the action on Walkers, troops, shields, and careful management of how damage is dealt.  Join the Assault on Echo Base by picking up this newest expansion pack.

Discerning DMs pay heed to Pathfinder‘s NPC Codex Box.

Like the previous token boxes Piazo has released, this one contains over 300 tokens and stands of varying sizes.  Each token is represented in full color art pulled directly from the NPC Codex.  Make sure your game is engrossing and clear by picking up these essential pawns.

It’s all about the bad guys in the Enemies of the Imperium!

The most recent supplemental hardcover for Only War, Enemies of the Imperium details hundreds of NPC beings that stand in the way of the Imperial Guard, along with their methods of combat so that the GM can employ them correctly in battle.  Squad-level combat is also detailed in the book, giving the option for giant formation fights.

One of the many products celebrating the 50th anniversary of the longest running sci-fi series on television, Doctor Who,  is the Cubicle 7 Doctor Who RPG series.  In honor of the event, the company is releasing sourcebooks for each incarnation of the Doctor.  The First Doctor Sourcebook released this weekend, including each of the earliest Doctor‘s companions and villains as well as destinations and gadgets.  Pick up a copy so that you can relive the Doctor‘s early junkyard beginnings and beyond, retold from your own imagination.

For those that know their Shakespeare, Merchant of Venus might sound slightly familiar. Same for anyone who knows their board game history, because Merchant of Venus is a reboot of the classic Avalon Hill board game. This second edition of Merchant of Venus contains a new re imagined game design as well as Richard Hamblen’s classic design.

In Merchant of Venus, one to four players take roles of intergalactic merchants competing to trade goods with alien cultures. Will pirates, space junk, or sabotage end your business? Or can wheel and deal your way to financial superiority.

Any self-respecting Pathfinder GM needs to pick up a copy of the new NPC Codex. Quickly becoming an essential volume, this hardcover contains information on over 300 characters! A go-to guide to running, equipping, and stating out opponents and allies for your players to face, the NPC Codex will easily alleviate set-up time or on-the-fly awkwardness as you grope for enemies. Plus, the book comes with multiple versions of classic Pathfinder characters for easy pre-generated play. Pathfinder releases a ton of great books over the course of a year, but this is certainly one of the most essential!

Your fleet is growing! Wings of Glory today releases four new WWII fighter planes, each pre-painted, assembled, and packed with all the necessary elements to incorporate it into any Wings of Glory WWII games. This new set includes four miniatures, two American, two German. The North American fighters are B-25 Mitchell model planes, while the Germans are Heinkels. For easy-to-learn, mechanically inventive war games, Wings of Glory is the best out there.

It only gets worse in the world of Thunderstone. After defeating Mowtil and collecting three thunderstones in the Caverns of Bane expansion, players are now faced with an even worse threat as Doom’s ultimate plan is revealed. Root of Corruption is the second expansion for the Thunderstone Advanced base game, this time introducing a co-op as well as six new monster groups, seven new heroes, new village cards, and a new poster map board. If you’re going to continue crawling through this dungeon, you’re going to need to get to the Root of Corruption.

Deathwatch has made it to the Outer Reach.

With this new hardcover edition to the Deathwatch corpus players can take the Dead Stations Vigil and serve alongside the Dead Cabal, learning all their ancient secrets. Face the Necrons Suhbekhar Dynasty, an ageless foe clawing to earn back their fallen empire. The captain’s log needed a little Shatner-ing up, so Bandai decided to publish an original series Star Trek Deck Building Game to go along with their Next Generation games. This new base game can be combined and played with the previous two Next Gen releases or simply as a stand alone game. Either way, players begin as a captain of a starship, controlling a standard crew and basic weaponry. From there, however, you choose to improve various aspects of your ship and crew, attempting to complete the mission directives of two diverse scenarios. If you want to go boldly where no other deck builder has gone before, go on a Star Trek.
