One of history’s deadliest wars has just been turned into a two to five player cooperative card game. And it is awesome! The Grizzled is an inexpensive card game that drops players into the roles of tattered WWI soldiers in the mud and muck of the trenches. All the players will need to work together to survive a barrage of mortars, gas, and enemy fire, but will also need to keep their own safety in mind. Finding that balance between group unity and personal survival will keep you coming back for more.
The first of two products set in the popular cyberpunk universe of The Resistance card game, One Night Revolution is a new spin on that popular deception game. With the combined mechanics and game designers of The Resistance and One Night Ultimate Werewolf, One Night Resistance has three to ten players attempting to discover the government spies hidden among their revolutionary forces. Like One Night Ultimate Werewolf, this version plays in a swift fifteen minutes!
The second Resistance universe game out this weekend is Coup Rebellion G54. Not an expansion for the original Coup, but instead a sequel to that game, Coup Rebellion builds on the original game’s deception rules by adding character options. These twenty-five new characters are able to be selected at the beginning of each game, each adding a unique ability to the gameplay.
From the makers of Star Realms, the popular, cheap, expandable deck building game, Epic the Card Game is another spin on Magic the Gathering from former pro players. Epic allows two to four players to play sealed, draft, or constructed out of the materials contained in one box. Unlike Magic, players do not require mana to power their cards, but instead the game operates off of a simple one or none power system.
As with the previous Arrow and Justice Society of America expansion packs, the new Legion of Super-Heroes Crossover Pack for the DC Deck Building Game is a cheap set of additional cards for the game. Included in the pack are six playable heroes not seen in previous expansions as well as new super-villain, hero, equipment, and other cards.
Based off of the online game written by comic author Kurtis J. Wiebe (Rat Queens), Super Motherload is the card/tile adaptation recently released by Roxley Games. Super Motherload serves as a revolutionary game design, combining both deck building and tile laying. Each player, taking on the role of a Mars colonist, will play cards from their own deck that will allow them to dig and attain materials on the planet’s surface. Over the course of the game, however, players will purchase and add new cards to their deck in order to dig for rarer resources.
Launching from Atlantis into the atmosphere, Survive: Space Attack! adapts the basic rules of the original Survive: Escape from Atlantis! for an entirely new environment. In the game, players will be taking on the role of astronauts who are desperate to escape their space station, as it is currently under attack by alien forces. It will be up to each player to choose their own route and method of escape, but do so quickly, as the clock is ticking.
Combining group storytelling, board gaming, and roleplaying, T.I.M.E. Stories is an original experience dropping this weekend from Asmodee Games. T.I.M.E. Stories is set in a world where time agents exist to travel back to the past in order forestall temporal incursions. Before each game, players will select a specific time agent to control, then they will be launched into the story scenario and attempt to play their way out. In this initial release, the Asylum scenario sends players to a mental hospital in 1920s Paris. Later expansions will add new scenarios to continue the gameplay.
