Batman/Superman #1

1. Hot on the heels of Superman Unchained, is another series celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Man of Steel, complete with a selection of variant covers featuring each of the titular characters as well as a Guillem March variant featuring both.

2. Greg Pak has jumped ship from Marvel to DC, leaving behind legendary runs on The Hulk (Planet Hulk, anyone?), in order to helm the a first series teaming of The Caped Crusader and Man of Tomorrow.

3.  Joining Pak on the book is Jae Lee, fresh off of a career defining run on Before Watchmen: Ozymandias, bringing a moody, shadowy portrayal of these characters unlike any you’ve seen before.

4. Taking place six  years before the present, Batman/Superman #1 relates the first time that Superman and Batman got teamed-up post-Darkseid in the New 52 universe.

Larfleeze #1

1. Feeling left out with all this Superman hoohaw going on, Larfleeze demanded DC give him his own ongoing series and they agreed to.  Mostly because he threatened to have Glomulus eat them.

2. To celebrate the release of the most recent addition to the Green Lantern universe, every purchase of issue #1 receives a free Orange Lantern Ring!

3. Once you have claimed all the Orange Lantern Rings for yourself, you can sit down and find out how Larfleeze, the most selfish creature in the galaxy, has become the only force standing between the most destructive being to ever live.

4. Keith Giffen and Scott Kolins bring their veteran experience in the comic industry to bear on this series, delivering classic action and sci-fi adventure.

Lazarus #1

1. Did you miss out on Criminal?  Or on Fatale?  Or Incognito?  If you answered “yes” to any of those, do not miss out on Image Comics soon-to-be-hit series, Lazarus!

2. From the writer/artist team of the aforementioned serieses (Greg Rucka and Michael Lark), Lazarus #1 takes these two past the crime, horror, and superhero genres they’ve tackled previously, straight into post-apocalyptic chaos.

3. Set in a future wasteland, Lazarus tells the violent tale of the last survivors of Earth, all of which have formed into distinct houses (like Game of Thrones), each of which steal from each other for survival.

4. Oh, and the main character gets shot down in issue one.  Where the hell do things go from there?

Before Watchmen Hardcovers (Round One)

1. The first wave of dual story Before Watchmen hardcovers hits shelves this Wednesday.  And if you missed out on this shockingly stellar addition to the original Watchmen, now’s your time to gather them all up.

2. Taking place before Alan Moore’s medium redefining miniseries, the two volumes shipping this week feature The Minutemen, Silk Spectre, and Ozymandias.

3. The Minutemen/Silk Spectre volume features stories by comics icon, Darwyn Cooke.  He both draws and writes The Minutemen story in his notably golden age style, producing the closest approximation to the original Watchmen, in terms of dense narrative and complexity, in the entire line.  His Silk Spectre story is drawn by Amanda Conner in a style that can only be described as Archie Comics on ecstasy.

4. The second volume this week is Ozymandias/Crimson Corsair.  Brimming with pulpy pulp, this hardcover details the globe-trotting origins of the most brilliant man on Earth in the style of classic Doc Savage and Shadow stories.  Not only that, but the entire interlinking Crimson Corsair story and the Dollar Bill one-shot.
