My Little Pony Equestria OdysseysNot quite Homer’s epic, Equestrian Odysseys is the newest My Little Pony CCG set to be released!  In this set, cards are themed around quests that have been assigned by Cutie Map.  Fresh new friends like Sugar Belle and The Smooze join all your favorites, and together you’ll battle the Bugbear, journey to Griffonstone, and even save Our Town from new evil-doer Starlight Glimmer.  Alongside the traditional booster packs, there are also two new Theme Decks for Equestrian Odysseys, including Jam Session and Takin’ Care of Business.Zendikar vs Eldrazi Duel Deck

Following on the heels of MtG Origins, the newest Duel Deck is out this weekend!  Zendikar vs. Eldrazi pits the forces of the former against the creatures of the latter.  Within the two complete decks included in the box, there are a number of rare, powerful cards including a new art reprint of Avenger of Zendikar and Primal Command as well as a reprint of It That Betrays.  Outside of that, the Zendikar deck Conquest of Sperosincludes cards that will appear in the upcoming Battle for Zendikar set.

Conquest of Speros is a quick playing game of area control and resource domination for two to four players.  In the game, four competing races work to exercise their dominance over the landscape and to control the export of iron, crystal, and gold as well as securing ownership of the powerful Ancient Artifacts buried from long ago.  Players lead generals and their minions in order to secure lands and battle opponents.Battle Con Light and Shadow

Two expansions drop this weekend for the video game influenced World of Indines games.  First up is Devastation of Indines, which provides an array of options to expand and enhance your BattleCon game.  These include thirty alternate costumes, each possessing their own abilities, and the characters Borneo and Juto.  Also out is the Light and Shadow expansion, Firefly Shiny Dicecontaining sixty EX and Almighty fighters.

Firefly Shiny Dice is the first and only “Press your Luck” style dice game set in the Firefly universe.  Roll up, get a mission and complete as many challenges as you can before your luck runs out.  The further you go, the greater the risk but greater the reward if you succeed.  Get a crew, get a mission, keep flying.Machi Koro Millionaire's Row

Wealth has come to Machi Koro in the game’s most recent expansion, Millionaire’s Row.  Millionaire’s Row adds thirteen new, powerful establishment cards.  With a grand total of forty plus landmarks and establishments, the variability is endless.  It can also be combined with Machi Koro:  Harbor Expansion for an K-Wing X-Wing Star Warseven bigger, bustling city.

Always hotly awaited, the next wave of Star Wars X-Wing ships is thrusting out of lightspeed this weekend.  Including three new smaller ships and one oversized ship, this wave is a force to be reckoned with.  To start with, Bossk’s cruiser the Hound’s Tooth is a major addition to anyone’s Scum faction, as the ship has the capability to launch a smaller ship when it is destroyed.  Also out are the K-Wing, Tie Punisher, and the Kihraxz Fighter.New York 1901

Finally, one of this year’s Gen Con sensations, New York 1901, has hit shelves!  In New York 1901, players will compete to construct the iconic buildings dotting the New York skyline.  On each turn, players will have the option to purchase real estate in order to later construct buildings or to demolish a pre-existing building in order to rebuild on its empty lot.  One of the catches, however, is that building tiles each have a unique shape, one that will need to conform to the real estate you’re wishing to build on.  Outside of the mechanics, the game is vibrant, family friendly, and pleasingly designed.  A must buy for this year.

Not by the hair on your chiny chin chin should you miss The Three Little Pigs board game.

From Iello, this family game comes packed in its very own storybook casing, with fanciful wonders held within.  A dice rolling game, The Three Little Pigs revolves around players rolling dice to acquire building materials.  And take a guess at what those are.  Yup, sticks, brick, and straw.  Build your house the tallest and most sturdy, and you win the game.

Keep it secret, keep it safe!  The new Lord of the Rings LCG expansion is out!

The Black Riders Saga Expansion contains three entirely original scenarios, each of which recreate epic moments from the Lord of the Rings novels.  Containing 165, this oversized expansion allows players to customize their cooperative experience, as they face off against Sauron and his evil minions.

Maybe the best named gaming expansion I have ever come across, Smash Up, the card game based around slamming together two random, monstrous factions to build a deck, releases The Obligatory Cthulhu expansion today!  The Elder Gods have blessed this set with four exclusive factions, including Cthulhu cultists and Elder Things, to add to your already demonic decks.

Okay, follow this.  A fake card game from inside a film now becomes a real card game based on the fake one.  Got it?

Romance of the Nine Empires is born from a fan film, premiered at Gen Con 2012 (The Gamers:  Hands of Fate), which featured this Magic-esque card game.  Within Nine Empires players struggle against one another and the environment of Countermay as they attempt to cure an ailing planet.  You decide the outcome of the world with you actions.  Will it survive?

In Bruges stars Colin Ferrel and Brendon Gleasson. . .no, wait, that’s the movie.

Bruges the game has nothing to do with Colin Ferrel, but it does have a lot to do with player interaction.  Created by Stefan Feld, Bruges pits influential members of the city against each other, each bidding to obtain the support the local population.  Once supporters are found, your goal will be to enforce the city’s safeguards, while gaining further influence within the town hall.

The Omega Protocol has been enacted!

Level 7 receives an entirely new, stand-alone edition in Omega Protocol.  Once again, genetic mutations have overrun Subterra Bravo and a well organized team of soldiers has been sent out to solve the problem.  One player will control the monsters, the rest will control the soldiers  Who will live?

The wait is over!  Fudge Dice are back!

These Fate or Fudge Dice from Centurion apply to all Fate and Fudge system games, designed and colored specially to match the Dresden Files, Atomic Robo, and Spirit of the Century.

The star of Gen Con is here!  The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game is out!

Blending living card games with roleplaying games, the Rise of the Runelords base set is the first in a series of Pathfinder card game releases.  Players will work through the exact adventure from the RPG game, but in card form, playing their characters as decks of cards.  Each deck contains weapons, actions, spells, and other options, based on the character’s race.  Released alongside this base set is the first expansion for the game, a must-have collection of three new characters (Barbarian, Druid, Monk) as well as method of expanding the game up to five or six players.  Also, the box for the base set is built to hold ALL future expansions!

With the original Shogun dead and his young son in power, the title is up for grabs.  Will your clan be the one to take it?

In Yedo:  Rule from the Shadows, up to five players compete as rival Japanese clans to take control of the Shogun title.  Gaining prestige points leads to victory, but in order to gain them you must complete missions, outwit your opponents, and acquire any needed resources.  Basically, a feudal Japan version of the hit D&D boardgame, Lords of Waterdeep, Yedo has been generating tons of buzz all over the Intro-webs of late!

You gained the four artifacts, you made it back to the helicopter, and you escaped the Forbidden Island before it sank.

Now, your ship has crashed in the Forbidden Desert and the adventure begins anew.  GameWright‘s second use of the Forbidden Island mechanics, Forbidden Desert begins where the previous game left off, but this time you and your crew are stuck in a vast desert contending with sandstorms and drought.  Instead of the board sinking, tiles shift around as you attempt to rebuild your crashed ship with the scattered pieces.  A perfect cooperative gaming option for families and friends, Forbidden Desert quenches your thirst for survival!

After reprinting and updating the previous expansion for Pandemic, On the Brink, Z-Man releases an entirely new expansion today, called In the Lab.  Within this sick (see the level of punery going on there?) expansion, players gain three entirely new ways to approach the classic game.  First up is a lab challenge where viruses are taken back to a decontaminated environment to be investigated for cures.  Second, is team mode, where players group up to compete against rival scientists.  Third, the long awaited solo mode has been activated, leaving you all on your own to contend against a world of sickness.

Warmachine stomps into the realm of board games and deck builders with High Command.

In the tradition of Dominion, Ascension, Thunderstone, and all the rest, High Command has players buying character and action cards from a community pool in the center of the table in order to strengthen their steam-powered decks.  Whether you’re a fan of deck builders or Warmachine, High Command commands you to pay attention!

If you’ve ever wanted to be Donald Trump…okay, nobody’s ever wanted to be Donald Trump.  If you’ve wanted to be someone who owns as many hotels as Donald Trump, then get ready for a Vegas Showdown!  This new edition of the classic Avalon Hill game retains the same casino construction battle of the previous game, but with an entirely new coat of paint.  If you’ve never played the previous edition, Vegas Showdown pits 3-5 “millionaires” against each other in building the best and brightest hotel on the Vegas strip.  Oh, and if your casino is the most lucrative, you win the entire block.

I am Spartacus!

That’s what you’ll be screaming at the top of your lungs while standing on your couch with your friends awkwardly avoiding your eyeline.  Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery brings the underhanded sadism and conniving machinations of the Starz show to the board game arena.  Players bid, plan, plot, and battle their way through gladiatorial battles, both from the stands and in the arena’s circle.  After huge amount of promising buzz from Gen Con, this is a property game to pick up.

The Dying Earth Revivification Folio is the only RPG out there actually asking you to play as glib jackasses.  Based off of Jack Vance’s novels, this softcover edition is about eloquent wastrels, beguiling magicians, and perverse enchantments.  If you’re a fan of Vance’s work, you’ll be happy to know the Revivification Folio is both a standalone book, giving new players all they’ll ever need, and a companion expansion to the original core rulebook.  Get jackassin’, folks!

Literally fly your colors with the expansions for the sky pirates miniature warship game, Leviathans.  The French Fleet Box includes the French battleship, light cruiser, and two destroyer plastic miniatures from the core box, but also includes alternate Ship Cards for expanding your fleet.  The British Fleet Box contains the same goodies but for Queen and country.  A high-quality game for the steampunk and wargaming fanatics out there.
