In Realm of Heroes, players will balance a number of resources, including building castles and recruiting heroes that will become your army.  The trick is that the game board will alter as the game progresses, making it incredibly difficult to consistently field your army and plan your strategy.Dragons of Tarkir launch

Anyone who enjoys resource management games like Belfort, Clockwork Kingdom is a steampunk version of the same.  After the king of the Clockwork Kingdom has passed away, it’s a free for all for the throne and you will be playing one of the nominees!  In order to claim victory, you will need to make strategic decisions to claim workers, resources, build mechanisms, and encounter other opponents on the battlefield.Star Wars Armada

A parallel game to the highly popular Star Wars X-Wing miniature game, Star Wars Armada, is finally on shelves.  This hotly anticipated release is a to scale ship-to-ship battle game where players control capital class ships, like the Star Destroyer and the Corellian Corvette, as well as lower class ships, like Tie Fighters and X-Wings.  All the ships move on a template system, similar to but unique enough from X-Wing.

10-4, Big Kahuna, it’s time for Another BIG Expansion for Galaxy Trucker!

That’s right, the only game where you travel the intergalactic highways, fighting off marauders from your space semi-truck as you deliver cargo to the next planet gets a new expansion box.  Any of the contents of this special delivery can be played with or without the previous expansion, but must be played with the base Galaxy Trucker game.  Brand new ship boards with rules, ship components to build with, intruders to attack your ship, and support staff to ease your travel are among the many extras and additives included in this cargo.  Give me a tug on that horn if you’re gonna pick it up!!

Y’all done hear the tale of Revolver?  Nah?  Well, mosey on up ta the campfire for a tale.

Though it all began with Revolver, tonight you’re gonna hear ’bout it’s young’n, Revolver 2.  It’s a yarn about a tiny town versus an army, ‘General’ Mapache’s army, ta be precise.  One player takes control of the town’s residents and the gunfighters they’ve hired to protect them, while the other player takes control of Mapache’s army.  Each hombre controls their own deck of cards, including weapons, actions, and win condition cards.  And, if you’ve got’a lucky horse, you might feel like adding one of the other expansion packs, Hunt the Man Down or Ambush on Gunshot Trail, for added play modules.  Now, eat your beans, bed down of the night, an’ don’t let a rattlesnake bite your nose.

Last but in no way least, the new Magic the Gathering set came out this evening.  Gatecrash is the second set in the Return to Ravnica block, and the second set of guilds.  We currently have in stock booster boxes for English, Russian, Korean, and Japanese cards for the set, as well as Fat Packs and Intro Decks.  The guilds for this set include Orzhov, Simic, Gruul, Boros, and Dimir, so be sure to get your matching sleeves and deck boxes to accentuate your cards.

Like an atomic bomb of tiny cardboard, Magic the Gathering 2013 Core Set has dropped. This onslaught of Magic rares, uncommons, and commons is a perfect jumping on set for any new players as it is built around an even distribution of colors and types. Choose from new Fat Packs, Intro Decks, Deck Builder’s Tool Kits, and booster packs as entry options or supplemental materials for your existing decks.

A return to the fantasy RPGS of the seventies, Dungeon Crawl Classics is exactly what it claims to be, a good, old fashion pen and paper, D20 based fantasy system of wizards, elves, dungeons, orcs, and goblins. Not at all a new item, but so appealing to those who were around at the beginning of Dungeons and Dragons, we wanted to mention the restock we received. Outside of the core rulebook and limited edition leather bound version of that tome we also have in stock four different adventures ranging from levels 0 to 2.

Rio Grande Games has been incredibly successful at producing continually addicting expansions to their popular deck building series, Dominion. This week they have once again raised the bar by releasing the Dominion Base Cards set. These reprinted, newly illustrated editions of cards essential to the game, such as all the curse, trash, potion, and victory and treasure cards allow players to purchase any of the Dominion expansions without owning any of the base games. Or pick up the box if you want to spruce up your game with some new, beautifully illustrated versions of the games essential cards.

There’s always a bigger fish.

The new Warmachine Colossals rulebook depends heavily on this notion. Introducing the colossal figures, all of which are even bigger than the largest heavy ‘jacks. New warcasters, updated, fully compiled rules, sections of post-Warmachine: Wrath plot, and a painting guide complete the varied contents list of this essential rulebook.

Lets be honest, you can’t play Wings of War without the majorly cool plane models produced for the game. Ares Games is ready to help with your next bombing raid as they’ve released a set of four new WWI era flyers, all of which include a stat base, a stand to distinguish variable altitudes, a management card, maneuver cards, and the essential rules and counters for each plane.

Fleshing out the already flesh-filled, dystopian universes of Rogue Trader and Deathwatch, two new 40K RPG hardcovers are on shelves now. Honour the Chapter contains all the information necessary for players to detail and command a Space Marine Battle-Brother from any of twenty different chapters, each chronicled extensively. The Koronus Bestiary performs a similar task, but for the many, varied beasties and slithery things crawling, floating, and slithering about the galaxy, even coming with a creature generator tool which allows players to make their own deadly monsters.

Giggidy giggidy game-ga-game-ga-game-g-g-g-gaming!!

Just go with it.

Okay, since, apparently, I’m stuck on the letter “G” let’s look at Gamma World’s new expansion, Legion of Gold.  Monsters, monsters, and more monsters saturate this expansion.  As with the Famine in Fargo expansion, the box also holds four monster token sheets and a battle map.  As always, another new adventure is included.  As a sort of added bonus, any of the creepies present in this expansion can be played in regular Dungeons and Dragons games.  If you want to get an idea of how Gamma World plays, two of Pulp’s consistent counter proper-uppers, 8one6 and WDR, host a gaming podcast called Underdisscusion: The Undergopher Podcast.  Part 1 can be found here and part 2 can be found here.

The back of the book boldly proclaims:  These pages contain everything needed to prepare a Deathwatch Kill-team for any mission.  Deathwatch: Rites of Battle has mass amounts of customizable options including vehicle rules, weapons and armor, and new character options.  Along with all that creative goodness, this finely crafted hardcover includes rules for building your own chapter and alternate specialties rules.

From 40K to Fantasy.  The Witch’s Song is the newest adventure pack for the Fantasy Roleplay game series and it is creepy, thrilling, and suspenseful all rolled into one.  Creepthrilspensful?  Anyway, the story involves a quaint little burg falling under the curse of a local witch.  Or is it as simple as that?  The box contains a buttload of stuff:  the adventure booklet, cards, tokens, faction sheets, character standies, and so forth.  Perfect for a game session on a dark, cold, silent night.

D&D has a new deluxe DM screen releasing this week.  If you’ve never played D&D or have only played and never run a game, this screen keeps you dice rolls, notes, and other what-have-yous from the preying eyes of your players, while also being decorated with handy and helpful tips for running the game.

Since Mirrodin Besieged, the newest Magic the Gathering set, dropped this Friday, it wouldn’t be a game post without mentioning that we have a ton of booster boxes (which can be purchased at a discount and with a special promo card), Fat Packs, and Intro Packs.  If you’ve been scanning around town and can’t find any Besieged, you need to stop by Pulp and stock up.

While you’re doing that, you might also want to check out the new sleeves, boxes, and other Magic related accessories.  We have sleeves with symbols for both Mirran and Phyrexia.  We have Mirran and Phyrexia boxes.  We have Tezzeret-backed sleeves.  And we have new colors (red, white, blue, and green) in the Ultra-Pro Matte Sleeves.  Seriously, these are the nicest sleeves out there.
