All New Marvel NOW Point One #1

-Ignore the goofy discrepancy of “Point One #1” and instead focus on the promising refresh of Marvel content present in this oversized issue!

-Like they did with Marvel NOW, this Point One issue is the easiest way to sample a handful of these new series without simply getting reprints of the first issue.  This oversized issue will contain entirely original content, content that will act as a prequel to the first issue of each represented character.

-The books that will be represented in this one shot include Dan Slott’s Silver Surfer, Al Ewing’s Loki: Agent of Asgard, Ms. Marvel, All-New Invaders, and two books that release on the same day, Black Widow and Avengers World.

-Each story featured within this issue will be drawn and written by the creators of their respected series, meaning quality shorts with no filler.

Avengers World #1

-Jonathan Hickman completes his trilogy of Avengers books with this third ongoing series.

-Stefano Caselli, a regular contributing artist to Hickman’s main Avengers book, returns to the characters as the main artist for this series.

-Hickman will separate this book from his other Avengers series by focusing on stand-alone arcs, not bogged down by Marvel Universe continuity or events.

-If you loved the space opera that was Infinity, then Hickman promises the same grand action and adventure in Avengers World.

Black Widow #1

-Character-centric is the name of the game for the All New Marvel NOW refresh, and Black Widow #1 is the epitome of that focus.

-Nathan Edmondson (Grifter, Who is Jake Ellis, Dancer), who helms the series, has made a reputation around writing smart, well researched espionage series, a talent which will benefit Widow’s secret agent agenda.

-Illustrated in Phil Noto’s gorgeous painterly style, Black Widow #1 emphasizes the grace and fluidity of Natasha’s acrobatics and abilities.

-Romanov is running solo in this series, freed from her Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. duties, as she searches for redemption from her past as a KGB assassin.

-A major collector’s issue, Detective Comics #27 will feature a slew of variant covers by Frank Miller, Chris Burnham, Jason Fabok, and more.

-This hardcover edition collects the entire first storyline of the series, which features important information for the Forever Evil event currently in progress.

Cataclysm:  The Ultimates Last Stand #1 (of 5)

-Fresh off another Marvel mini-event (Battle for the Atom), Brian Michael Bendis once again takes control of the Ultimate universe to helm its own mini-event.

-Bendis began the Ultimate universe over ten years ago with Ultimate Spider-Man #1.  Since then he has written that series for nearly a decade and a half.  This may be his swan song.

-After Age of Ultron, the regular universe Galactus has crossed into the Ultimate universe and has just arrived at Earth.

-The rumors are that the Ultimate universe is coming to an end and that this will be its last story.  Miles Morales, it has also been assumed, will be crossing into the regular universe at the end of this very series!  Don’t miss out!

You’ve crashed on a desert island and though there are no polar bears or smoke monsters, there are the elements of nature.

Robinson Crusoe:  Adventure on the Cursed Island has been racking up acclaim lately, and finally drops today for what will likely be a short period before they’re snatched up.  Within the game, players control shipwrecked individuals on a lone island.  They must fight against animals, weather, and each other to survive, building shelter and gathering resources to continue to live.  As you change the island you decided how the game plays out.  Just don’t look in that metal hatch.

Get ready for tomorrow’s Magic the Gathering Game Day and the incorporation of the most recent core set, 2014, by picking up the M14 Event Deck.

Antike Duellum sends two players back in time for an epic head-to-head battle!

Taking the rules of the original Antike board game, Antike Duellum modifiers the mechanics for a two player war game of ancient Rome.  Coming with two separate scenarios (Rome vs. Carthage and Persia vs. Greece), the base game lasts between sixty to ninety minutes.  Play your cards right, literally, as carefully playing event cards (25 of which are brand new for this version of the game) changes the pace of the game and entirely decides the outcome.  With an easy to learn rule system, you’ll never be saying, “It’s all Greek to me.”

Uggh errgg mrrgg grrrgg.

That would be caveman for Cavemen, the Quest for Fire.  This simple little Rio Grande card game has two to five players taking on the role of a prehistoric hunter who’s mission is to kill dinosaurs and gain influence in the tribe.  To do this, players draft cards into a common card pool which decides the possible actions for that turn.  If you hold the special conch token, however, you get to choose your action first and take an extra action at the end of everyone else’s turn.  So, I say againg, uggh errgg mrrgg grrrgg.

The popular miniature adventure game Mage Knight gains a new expansion in The Lost Legion.  If you are brave enough to overcome the deadly obstacles in the way of purchasing this expansion (which, basically, is to just have the money to buy it) then you too can acquire all its riches.  Within the box is an entirely new Mage Knight (Wolfhawk), spells, artifacts, skills, locations, scenarios, enemies, and friends.  As usual, each piece and accessory is detailed and designed to the high standards of WizKids.

For the second time tonight dinosaurs have to be mentioned.

Yes, it’s a good night.

In the lost city of Uchronia dinosaurs never died out.  Now players take turns placing and drawing resource cards  in order to build up the ancient city, using their prehistoric lizard pals to assist them.  Building cards are drawn from the center of the table and used by players to continue constructing their palaces and become the patriarch of the city.
