Speaking of the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, Skull and Shackles, the newest base expansion for the highly popular RPG card game releases this weekend.  If you’re unfamiliar with the game, Piazo Publishing has adapted their popular RPG system into card game mechanics, with a group of players using decks of cards to represent their characters.  As the players fight their way through the adventure path (competing against NPC decks of cards), their decks grow by gaining additional stat cards.  The Skull and Shackles base set provides the additional cards needed to begin running this particular adventure path.

Cash and GunsLong awaited, but finally back in print, Cash’n'Guns is back on shelves!

For those unfamiliar, Cash’n'Guns recreates the class stand-off scenario from Reservoir Dogs, pitting four to eight players against each other.  Every player is given a foam pistol which they must load and point at other players (using cards) in an attempt to get them to lower their own weapon.  The second edition version has been updated with new artwork, new guns, and additional rules.Regular Show Fluxx

Fluxx continues to scoop up every nerd property available with the launch of this week’s Regular Show Fluxx!

If you’ve never touched a version of Fluxx, the gist is that the rules change as you play, beginning with the simple draw a card, play a card rule, but going crazy from there.  For the Regular Show version, Looney Labs has tailored the cards to reflect characters Grey Knights Codex hardcoverand catchphrases from the show, including Yeahuh!, Doing Donuts in the Park, and Do Me a Solid.  For a limited time, Pulp also has the No Rules Guy promo card to accompany the base game.

You though it would never happen, you thought the third edition codex would never be replaced, but Games Workshop has finally released a seventh edition codex for Grey Knights.  This hardcover volume contains new stats and rules for the related miniatures (new and old) as well as back story fluff for the faction.World of Tanks Rush

Cue up Tom Sawyer, because World of Tanks: Rush has rolled into the store!

Based on the popular online game, this board game adaptation incorporates artwork from the online version and has players selecting cards to build up their squadron of tanks.  Two to five players then defend their headquarters against their opponents, Kaos Ballbringing in reinforcements when necessary in order to attain victory.

From the makers of Rivet Wars comes the most violent, brutal sports board game you’ve ever put kneepads on for.  Kaos Ball covers the gamut of the sporting season, having players draft, train, and form teams (four different teams are represented by elaborately designed sets of miniatures) as well as play through rugby-style game play focused around area control mechanics.Icons of the Realms Dungeons Dragons miniatures

With that in mind, Wizards of the Coast has released the first set of miniatures for fifth edition/D&D Next.  These oversized boxes of miniatures contains four randomized figures Star Wars LCG Darkness and Lightfrom a selection of forty-four possible options.

Following hot on the heels of the last two expansion pack releases for their respective games, Fantasy Flight‘s Lord of the Rings and Star Wars LCGs each receive new add-on packs this weekend.

Darkness and Light is the last expansion pack for the Echoes of the Force storyline, feature ten additional objective cards that allow players to explore the Sith, convince people your a god with C-3PO, and fly the Empire’s biggest, baddest ships.  Lord of the Rings Trouble in Tharbad LCG

The third expansion pack in the Ring-Maker cycle, Trouble in Tharbad adds sixty new cards to the base game, including cards that walk players through a journey through the infamous Dwarf city, fighting off Orcs and saving the Dwarf informant, Legendary EncountersNalir.

No one can hear you scream in Legendary:  Encounters.

Based off of the mechanics of the highly popular Marvel Legendary card game, Encounters adapts the Alien franchise into another cooperative experience.  Players work together to outlast hordes of Xenomorphs as Ripley, Bishop, Dallas, and other characters from the franchise.  But, beware, if you spawn a chest-burster, you become a Xenomorph and attack your former teammates.

Brady of UnderDiscussion: The Undergopher Podcast is looking for 5-7 players for a bi-weekly 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons game here at Pulp Fiction. The game will be run on Saturdays from 11am-4pm. It will be set in the World of Greyhawk and feature adventures from 1st edition AD&D. All that is asked of potential players is the ability to cooperate, some commitment, and the willingness to participate in an inclusive and welcoming game environment. No previous gaming experience is necessary. All you need is dice and your imagination.

Interested parties should contact maldwarf@yahoo.com to introduce yourself or for more information. The target is to have selected players so we can get together for group character creation on September 6th and start playing on September 20th.

Wiz-War Malefic Curses ExpansionFantasy Flight‘s remake of the Tom Jolly original, Wiz-War, gains its first expansion this weekend.  Wiz-War Malefic Curse expands on the original wizard versus wizard game, wherein each player attempts to break into their opponent’s stronghold using magic, in a number of ways.  First off, the expansion adds a fifth player option for the game.  Second, a range of new spells, including necromancy, and portals are included.Prophecy board game

Not a new game, but a long overdue restock, Prophecy from Z-Man games is back on the shelves.  A dungeon crawling game without the dungeon, Prophecy is based around the Talisman system with a mythology bent.  Characters move around the board, fighting monsters and obtaining items, but with a unique skill system (wherein players acquire and learn Dungeons and Dragons Next Player's Handbookabilities) that Talisman doesn’t use.

Wizards of the Coast is thick into the release schedule of the newest version of Dungeons and Dragons, having launched the new edition with an acclaimed Starter Box and some great looking miniatures.  Out this week, is the first hardcover volume for the system, the Player’s Handbook.  Building off of the material present in the Starter Box, the Player’s Handbook expands on character creation and other aspects of the new system.Betrayal at House on the Hill

No, this is not a dream.  No, this is not a lie.  No, this is not a joke.  Betrayal at House on the Hill is finally back in print!  Avalon Hill and Wizards of the Coast have been promising a new printing of the desperately sought after horror game, and they’ve finally delivered.  One of the most popular semi-co-operative games on the market, with players exploring a haunted mansion, only to find that one of their members is fated to kill them.  Who, how, and Touch of Evil Dark Gothic Deck Building Gamewhat the other players need to do to avoid dying varies in each game.

Flying Frog Games moves into the deck building arena this weekend with another twist on the classic model.  Touch of Evil the Deck Building Game adds a new dynamic to the traditional deck builder by starting each player with a different hand of cards.  The hands are decided by the character chosen, with each monster hunter possessing different abilities.  All players battle against a stack of monster cards, similar to the Resident Evil DBG, but attain victory points that decide the winner of the game.

D&D Dungeons Dragons Icons of the Realms Starer Set MiniaturesSince most of tonight’s post is mostly populated by Magic the Gathering product, we’ll start out with the two non-Magic related items.

First up, is the second item release for Dungeons & Dragons aka D&D Next aka D&D 5.0 is out this weekend.  The Icons of the Realm miniature set for the D&D Starter Set includes pre-painted miniatures for each of the six character classes, including cleric, fighter, wizard, and more.

The second non-Magic release for the week is the new Stormclaw box set for Stormclaw 40K WarhammerWarhammer 40K.

Acting like a semi-starter kit, Stormclaw features two playable armies, one for Orks, one for Space Wolves.  Outside of a condensed, digest sized version of the 40K core rules, the box set also includes an exclusive Stormclaw campaign booklet and two exclusive figures for each army.  Grukk Face-Rippa, for the Orks, and Krom Dragongaze, for Space Wolves, also come with rules for play.

M15 Core Set 2015 Fat Pack BoostersNow to the Magic stuff.

In case you’ve been asleep for a month or so, the 2015 Core Set for Magic the Gathering is out.  As is the case with all set releases for Magic, the standard booster boxes, Fat Packs, and Intro Decks have been released.  Fat Packs contain nine booster packs of M15, two mini-deck boxes, one larger one, a spindown counter, and more.  Intro Decks are pre-built sixty card decks and two booster packs.M15 Core Set Clash Pack 2015

For the first time, Wizards has also released a Two-Player Clash Pack.  This dual deck set includes two entirely pre-built, playable decks, making it perfect for two friends to pick up and play.  Similar to the previously released Event Decks, the Clash Pack contain a number of high dollar MtG Core Set M15 Sleevesrares, including Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Temple of Mystery, Genesis Hydra, and  Courser of Kruphix.
Finally, if you’re going to be gaining a ton of new M15 singles, you’re going to want sleeves to go with them.  Each of the six major Planeswalkers for the set have each received the sleeve treatment, so no matter what color you play, Wizards has you covered.  As well, new playmats and binders have also been released.
