I say, sir or madame, have at me!  A Duel Betwixt Us is a two player card game designed to test your manly worth through the ancient and sacred art of violence.  Select a duelist, purchase offensive item cards (like fish, hammers, axes, or maces ), gather defensive cards, and begin settling the question of who the finder Chaos and Alchemyspecimen of man (or woman!) truly is!

Test your luck and alchemy skills in the dice and card based Chaos and Alchemy.  Players will conduct experiments by rolling dice against the luck of the Fortune Dice, which will decide if your experiments are a success or not.  If successful, players will draw or play cards that allow them to construct laboratories, heap misfortune upon opponents, and enact actions to counteract the mounting chaos generated by the game.Vici

Vici is a two player game of strategy and tactics.  Players take on the personas of military generals, leading their battle-hardened men on an ancient battlefield.  Under each general’s command is an army of varying strengths and abilities.  By mastering their legion’s power and judiciously maneurvering their soldiers down the field, the stronger general will Karnagannihilate their enemy’s camp.

Evil hordes of demons and monsters threaten the Earth from the sunken city in Karnag.  Players control druids who are battling against the rising armies of creatures by erecting energy shields and capturing creatures to obtain victory points.  But be careful, the energy it takes to perform these actions is finite, so players will need to create potions to refuel their power bars.  Gameplay is broken up into rounds, with six stages to each round.  12 Realms

A league of famous folktale and fantasy characters, such as Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and D’Artagnan, join forces in the new 12 Realms miniature board game!  Each player controls one of these characters (each represented by a detailed miniature) in order to defeat the Lords of Darkness.  A cooperative experience, players ban together to defeat the bad guys and traverse the various realms of the game to do so.  Each realm contains unique creatures and threats, so be prepared for whatever realm your group Legendary Encounters Predatordecides to attack.

Don’t forget to watch for the telltale shimmer of the Predator in the new Legendary Encounters base game.  Like the Alien Legendary deck building game, this Encounters expansion plays as a semi-cooperative experience where players control both predators and human strike teams as they work through the events of both Predator and Predator 2.  Using the mechanics of previous Legendary deck building games, this version will pit players against characters and creatures from the film universe.

Time is never a restraint for The Doctor, so why should it be for Cubicle 7?  Just because the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary was over a year and a half ago doesn’t mean that the Doctor Who roleplaying game sourcebooks should stop.  And so the Seventh Doctor Sourcebook has VWROOP’ed onto the shelf.  Like the previous sourcebooks, this hardcover edition contains character stats for not only the titular Doctor, but also all of his major companions and foes, as well as playable adventures that follow each Pathfinder Battles Iconic Heroesof his televised episodes.

With the previous Pathfinder core set of hero miniatures out of print, Paizo has released a new Pathfinder Battles Iconic Heroes boxed set.  Included within the box are six pre-painted miniatures for use within the Pathfinder RPG system.  The miniatures included are an Iconic Fighter, Paladin, Sorcerer, Monk, Druid, and Snow Leopard Companion.  Each miniature also comes with an exclusive Boon Card (only found in this boxed set) that may be used in-game.Saint Petersburg

Out of print for many years, Z-Man Games has finally reprinted Saint Petersburg.  A set collection game at heart, Saint Petersburg plays in phases.  Each phase brings a new card type up for purchase.  These types include workers, buildings, trading cards, and aristocrats, each with their own ability and benefit toward gaining victory points.  In addition to these original types, this reprinting has also introduced market cards which Chopstick Dexterity Mega Challenge 3000help to incorporate a fifth player.

The hottest new Japanese game show has just hit hobby store shelves!  Chopstick Dexterity Mega Challenge 3000 is just as insane as other Japanese game shows (but without all the crotch shots), forcing one to three players to compete in an extreme dexterity challenge using chopsticks.  On each player’s turn they draw a token that indicates a specific shaped character.  These tokens match wooden meeples that are located in a rice bowl, waiting for players to pick them out using chopsticks.  Each meeple that is successfully pulled out will earn that player the matching token.  The player with the most tokens claims victory!X-Wing Scum and Villany

A long, long time ago in an office building in Northern America. . .Fantasy Flight promised a third faction addition to the popular X-Wing miniature game.  Well, Scum and Villainy, that third faction, has finally been released.  Like the Imperials and Rebels before them, the Scum and Villainy faction features ships piloted by core Star Wars characters, but this time they are the vilest bounty hunters and scoundrels in the galaxy.  The first wave of ships includes the Most Wanted three pack, IG-88′s IG-2000, the M3-A Interceptor, and the StarViper.

Heroclix starter sets.  These two individual sets, one X-Men, one Avengers, each contain the essentials for playing a head-to-head game of Heroclix, allowing you and your friend to pit Avenger against X-Man!

If zombie films have taught us anything, it’s that the undead never stop coming.  Steve Jackson takes this concept to heart with his extremely successful Zombie Dice game.  Releasing this weekend is the Zombie Dice Brain Case, a special dice container with a heavy-duty screw-on cap and a score pad to keep track of your brains.

Have at me, Spirit of the Century!

The famous FATE-centric RPG gained a dirigible’s worth of new product today, including a supplemental edition called Strange Tales of the Century, written and designed to appear like a classic pulp novel, but actually providing new material.  Three actual SotC novels were released, however, including Khan of Mars, King Khan, and Sally Slick and the Steel Syndicate.

Forget Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin.

Mage Wars is all about Druid vs. Necromancer!

This new two Mage expansion to the base game introduces forces of magic not originally included in the base game.

The Horn that Wakes becomes the most recently released Game of Thrones LCG Adventure Pack, including sixty cards that return to the Night’s Watch, Wildings, and North themes.

One of the hottest (pun intended) cooperative games on shelves right now, Flash Point:  Fire Rescue, is about to get a little hotter.  Excuse the lame burns (sorry!).

Anyway, Extreme Danger, the newest expansion for the game, adds two new levels, basement and attic, to extend the difficulty of the game, requiring that players climb further.  Also included in Extreme Danger are an entire set of unique miniatures which now are sculpted to represent each type of firefighter rather than having a single mold in different colors.

A new deception based card game, Coup (not coop), has players attempting to get their opponents to reveal their two secret identity cards, each laid out face down in front of them, throughout the game by using their own, hidden, special abilities.

After the release of Shadowrun fifth edition earlier this year, players have been clamoring for supplemental material.  No longer do you have to hack corporations to get it, either, because Shattered States, an introductory level adventure for beginner players, is on shelves this weekend.

Munchkin gets a double shot of new this weekend with two distinct booster pack expansions.  First up is Munchkin Gets Promoted, a collection of formerly impossible to find special edition promo cards from throughout Munchkin‘s history.  Second is a goblin-centric booster expansion for Munchkin Pathfinder, Gobsmacked.

Sixty beautifully illustrated cards, ready-made to expand the existing Dixit party-style games arrive in the form of Dixit Origins.

The train keeps a rollin’ all night long with Ticket to Ride‘s newest map expansion, Nederland!

Considering the country is littered with bridges (and accompanying tolls to use them), Nederland adds a distinct element to the game where players must pay tokens to access certain bridge pathways.  The second player to use one of these double bridges, then must pay back those tokens to the first player if they are to cross.

Finally, Mice and Mystics receives its first expansion in the form of Heart of Glorm.  This direct sequel to the original game adds new miniatures, cards, and especially chapters to continue the quest of the mice knights after they have defeated Vanestra.

The star of Gen Con is here!  The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game is out!

Blending living card games with roleplaying games, the Rise of the Runelords base set is the first in a series of Pathfinder card game releases.  Players will work through the exact adventure from the RPG game, but in card form, playing their characters as decks of cards.  Each deck contains weapons, actions, spells, and other options, based on the character’s race.  Released alongside this base set is the first expansion for the game, a must-have collection of three new characters (Barbarian, Druid, Monk) as well as method of expanding the game up to five or six players.  Also, the box for the base set is built to hold ALL future expansions!

With the original Shogun dead and his young son in power, the title is up for grabs.  Will your clan be the one to take it?

In Yedo:  Rule from the Shadows, up to five players compete as rival Japanese clans to take control of the Shogun title.  Gaining prestige points leads to victory, but in order to gain them you must complete missions, outwit your opponents, and acquire any needed resources.  Basically, a feudal Japan version of the hit D&D boardgame, Lords of Waterdeep, Yedo has been generating tons of buzz all over the Intro-webs of late!

You gained the four artifacts, you made it back to the helicopter, and you escaped the Forbidden Island before it sank.

Now, your ship has crashed in the Forbidden Desert and the adventure begins anew.  GameWright‘s second use of the Forbidden Island mechanics, Forbidden Desert begins where the previous game left off, but this time you and your crew are stuck in a vast desert contending with sandstorms and drought.  Instead of the board sinking, tiles shift around as you attempt to rebuild your crashed ship with the scattered pieces.  A perfect cooperative gaming option for families and friends, Forbidden Desert quenches your thirst for survival!

After reprinting and updating the previous expansion for Pandemic, On the Brink, Z-Man releases an entirely new expansion today, called In the Lab.  Within this sick (see the level of punery going on there?) expansion, players gain three entirely new ways to approach the classic game.  First up is a lab challenge where viruses are taken back to a decontaminated environment to be investigated for cures.  Second, is team mode, where players group up to compete against rival scientists.  Third, the long awaited solo mode has been activated, leaving you all on your own to contend against a world of sickness.

Warmachine stomps into the realm of board games and deck builders with High Command.

In the tradition of Dominion, Ascension, Thunderstone, and all the rest, High Command has players buying character and action cards from a community pool in the center of the table in order to strengthen their steam-powered decks.  Whether you’re a fan of deck builders or Warmachine, High Command commands you to pay attention!

You know that dark, brooding anti-hero who plays by their own rules as they stop at nothing to take down the baddie?  How about a whole book full of them?  Better yet, you get to control them.

D&D 4.0 released a new Player’s Option hardcover this week with Heroes of  Shadow.  Made as a supplement for Heroes of the Fallen Lands, Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms, and the basic Rules Compendium, this guide allows for players to tap into the (normally reserved for evil doers) power of the shadow.  Much like Batman, the characters contained in this book may look like they’ll stomp you into submission and steal your purse, which they might still do, but for the good guys.  All the basics, races, classes, feats, and powers are held within its shadowy pages.

Magestorm:  Mighty Battles in the Age of Magic is a unique new two player (expansions for four players will be coming soon) wargame that pits pairings of mages (such as fire, druid, air, and fate) and armies against each other.  Might sound weird, but, basically, you pick one of the four mages listed above (for your spells and magic) and then one of the two available armies (humans or elves) to battle with.  Each choice comes with various benefits and negatives, as far as abilities go.  The board can be customized with tile pieces to suit one of the included scenarios or your own tastes.  As two player games can be scarce, it’s nice to see such an epic wargame, with customizable content no less, flesh out the category.

Do you know a saboteur?  Now you can be a saboteur, too.  Or rather, Saboteur 2.  A new expansion for the original mining mayhem game, Saboteur, this time around the idea is that the miners have separated into two groups; each one attempting to beat the other to the pile of riches.  Ah, but it wouldn’t be Saboteur without some new Dwarfs to wreck havoc.  This expansion adds cards like the Boss, (helps both groups), the Profiteer (made deals with all parties), and the Geologist (more concerned with crystals than gold).  Also, by adding this expansion to the original game, the range of players increases to 2-12.

Do you love the Spartacus: Blood and Sand series on Showtime?  Do you love H.P. Lovecraft and Cthulhu?  Have you ever dreamed about them mixing together?  Personally, I hope not; that would be a terrifying dream.  But, if you have, that dream is coming true with the new Call of Cthulhu RPG companion, Cthulhu Invictus.  This three scenario booklet is set in a reality where the Rome’s choice to force religion on its populace begins to clash with the worship of the elder gods, and they are not happy about it.  So, yes, Gladiator with Cthulhu monsters.

Applications for ninja school are being accepted today.  Yes, Pulp has Naruto collectible card game materials!  Arriving this week where a collection of three new “Chibi” tins, each with a unique assortment of cards and boosters.  This three tin set includes Sasori and Deidara, Naruto and Kakashi, and Sasuke and Itachi.  All three include special promo cards and four booster packs (two from Path of Pain and two from Tales of the Gallant Sage).  Get your ninja on, folks!

Since we’re talking CCG’s, how about we continue with World of Warcraft and Legend of the Five Rings.  From its inception, the WoW CCG has been popular, not only for its gameplay, but for the Loot cards that have been included in the booster packs.  These are a desired commodity because they have special promo codes on them that allow you to use them in the online computer game.  The new WoW CCG Archives set is not only exclusive to hobby stores, like Pulp Fiction, but also contains a random assortment of 190 of the best cards (all foil) from the first three sets as well as the possibility of nabbing a number of the most hunted for Loot cards (Spectral Tiger, anyone?).  Along with this release, WoW has gained a new Raid Deck in Icecrown Citadel.  Pulp has a limited amount of both, so swing by before they’re gone.

The Legend of the Five Rings CCG also gets an update with its Celestial Edition collection.  As a new base set for the game, Celestial Edition is completely tournament legal.  Currently, Pulp has a box of boosters, sealed, ready for pick-up.  If that’s wetting your lips, hit us up.

Sneaking it in before the end (that’s what she said), we also received a restock of the base Call of Cthulhu book as well as Call of Cthulhu FictionFederation Commander also got restocked in a big way.

The Heavens of Olympus finishes us out for today.  From Rio Grande Games, Heavens sounds pretty interesting.  Based around Greek mythology, it has players taking control of a single unknown god (out of five) who has been assigned by Zeus to build a new universe.  As day shifts into night, rounds of the game progress and players place and move planets across the stars.  At the end of each round Prestige points are added up.  The god with the most points gets to ascend to known status and live on Mt. Olympus.  Different mechanic, cool theme.
