Civil War II Amazing Spider-ManCivil War Amazing Spider-Man & Gods of War #1 (of 4)

-With Civil War II in overdrive, Marvel begins turning out four tie-in miniseries this week.

-Out this week are the Civil War II:  Amazing Spider-Man and Civil War II:  Gods of War first issues.

-The inciting incident for Civil War II is the discovery of Ulysses, an Inhuman who can predict the future.  When he predicts that one of Peter Parker’s closest friends will betray him, Spider-Man has to dig deep to uncover the mole in his organization.

-While the Civil War threat rages on, Hercules discovers a related obstacle that needs defeating.  While the Avengers are busy, however, Hercules will have to assemble a team of mythic heroes to quell the problem.

Prometheus: Life and Death #1 (of 4)Prometheus Life and Death

-Another miniseries in the Life and Death Dark Horse crossover that began with Predator:  Life and Death.

-Acclaimed writer Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy, Aquaman) continues where he left off with Predator:  Life and Death.

-Spinning out of the events of that previous miniseries, Prometheus:  Life and Death follows the Colonial Marines after they have outrun the Predators.

-Unfortunately, the ship they have stolen crash lands on LV-223, the planet where the Engineers built the Xenomorphs.

Gotham Academy LumberjanesLumberjanes/Gotham Academy #1 (of 6)

-Boom! and DC join forces for a crossover miniseries that no one knew they wanted, but were thrilled to receive once it was announced!

-Lumberjanes is one of Boom! Studios‘ flagship titles, having earned numerous Eisner Awards and countless avid fans who appreciate the inclusive tone and wacky humor of the series.

-Gotham Academy has also earned an army of fans, but on the DC side of the street.  Essentially a Harry Potter-equivalent for the DC Universe, Gotham Academy follows a group of plucky teens at a private school in Gotham as they uncover mysteries and battle ghosts, ghouls, and other creatures.

-As both groups are addicted to solving mysteries, a spooky building hidden in the woods draws them together for an all-ages adventure.

DC Rebirth Week 2Wonder Woman Rebirth #1

-Returning to their original numbering (adding all of the interceding New 52 issues) Action Comics and Detective Comics return.  Action Comics will star an empowered Lex Luthor as he fills Superman‘s shoes, while Detective Comics sees Batman and Batwoman training an Bat-Family army that includes Spoiler, Tim Drake, and Clayface.

-After Geoff Johns established Aquaman as one of the DC Universe‘s greatest heroes, Dan Abnett picks up the reins sending Arthur Curry on a dangerous mission to battle Black Manta while brokering peace between Atlantis and the surface world.

-Spinning out of the mind-blowing events of DC Universe Rebirth #1, Joshua Williamson (Birthright, Ghosted, The Illuminati) takes over the Flash series with Barry Allen at the center.

-Greg Rucka (Black Magick, Batman, 100 Bullets) returns to Wonder Woman, a series he received ample acclaim for writing in the early 2000s!  A close loss and the removal of a classic weapon lead Wonder Woman on a journey to reclaim her position as Themascyra’s ambassador.

Predator Life and DeathPredator Life and Death #1 (of 4)

-Beloved author of the Warhammer 40K novels and a great Guardians of the Galaxy run, Dan Abnett steps into the Alien/Predator/Prometheus universe.

-The newest miniseries in Dark Horse‘s long running, popular Predator releases.

-Life and Death sees a band of Colonial Marines sent to a barren planet to retrieve a horse-shoe shaped ship by the Weyland-Yutani corporation.

-Of course, that mission isn’t going to go so well when a pack of Predators is on the hunt.

-You thought one series starring Silk was enough, but you were wrong!

-Robbie Thompson, co-creator of Supernatural and writer of the Silk ongoing series, is also helming this four issue miniseries.

-If you’ve ever wanted to see the lovechild of Back to the Future and Spider-Man, Spiderfly Effect is that very thing!

-Silk and Spider-Man are sent back in time before they gained their powers, an accident that only causes them to inadvertently stop themselves from gaining said powers.

-Having written Spider-Man, X-Men, Detective Comics, and nearly every other major comic series out there, Peter Milligan (oh, also Red Lanterns) launches a new ongoing Image series.

-Sex, sex, sex!  That usually gets everyone’s attention.  Discipline blends romance comics and sexual horror for a controversial series!

-Fans of Harrow County, Colder, and Sex Criminals need to check this series out!

-Melissa has lost the connection she had with her husband, which leads her to an illicit affair with another man.  However, man may not be the accurate descriptor, as he seems rather demonic.

Black Widow #1Black Widow

-Mark Waid and Chris Samnee, the team behind the acclaimed Daredevil run, rejoin for this new series!

-Chris Samnee is a masterful artist who is capable of experimenting with format and style in captivating ways.

-Natasha has spent her whole career gathering secrets, as well as making some.  When those get out in the open, she has to go on the lamb from the government she once served.

-Like the plot of Captain America:  Winter Soldier, but without that dull Steve Rogers dragging things down.

Harley's Little Black BookHarley’s Little Black Book #1

-You asked for more Harley Quinn and DC delivers with another series!

-Each issue will ship on a bi-monthly schedule, so it’s not competing as much with your other Harley comics.

-Amanda Conner and her husband, Jimmy Palmiotti, will write this series in addition to the main Harley Quinn comic.

-Each issue features Harley teaming up with another DC character.  Issue one pairs her with Wonder Woman.

All New All Different Marvel December Part Daredevil #1

-You’ve watched and loved the original Netflix series, now pick-up the new ongoing Daredevil comic.

-Charles Soule (She-Hulk, Secret War Civil War, Swamp Thing, Death of Wolverine) takes over Daredevil, a perfect fit as Soule is an active attorney.

-Spinning out of the Secret War’s 1872 miniseries, Red Wolf #1 brings Marvel‘s only Cheyenne hero into the present day!  Nathan Edmondson of Punisher helms the series.

-For fans who are intimidated by the density of the Inhuman universe, Charles Soule launches All New Inhumans, a cop procedural-esque series that follows original Inhuman characters discovering and helping NuHumans.

-Fan favorite character Amadeus Cho is now officially The Hulk.  Er, excuse me, The Totally Awesome Hulk!

-Greg Pak, the writer behind the iconic Planet Hulk storyline, returns to write the series with Frank Cho on interior art duties.

-The Guardians of old (Vance Astro, etc.) join forces with the Guardians of new (Rocket, Groot, etc.) to form The Guardians of Infinity, written by Dan Abnett (who made the Guardians of the Galaxy who they are now) and Jason Latour (Spider-Gwen, Southern Bastards).

-Missing an all-ages, continuity free Spider-Man series?  Spidey #1 fills that niche, with one issue stories set during Spider-Man‘s early days as illustrated by Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men).

-Dennis Hopeless takes control of the X-Men universe with a new ongoing series!

-Dan Abnett, writer of the fan favorite Guardians of the Galaxy and Annihilation series, is crafting this entire maxiseries.

-A mysterious woman named Lilith has been receiving visions about a Teen Titans team that no one else remembers.  Once Dick Grayson and the other original Titans are brought together, they will get to the bottom of this “lost” team.

All New All Different Marvel Week 3Astonishing Ant Man

-Continuing one of Marvel‘s true under-read titles, Astonishing Ant-Man #1 follows this summer’s surprise movie star, Scott Lang, as he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter and stay on the good side of the law.  That last part may be a little tough.

-Following up his hit Moon Knight run, Warren Ellis brings his talent for concise storytelling to Karnak, the deadliest Inhuman.

-Not specifically part of the ANAD release, but still a new one-shot from MarvelAgents of Atlas is one of the last Secret Wars tie-ins.

-The week’s major Marvel release is easily Uncanny Inhumans #1!  Written by Charles Soule (Inhuman, She-Hulk, Death of Wolverine, Secret Wars Civil War) elevates the newest characters being made popular by Agents of SHIELD.
