-Lost for years, fighting in an alternate reality of magic and fantasy, Abbie has to flee back to Earth as that world falls apart around her.  Mae, Abbie’s sister, is entrusted to find her, but must contend with various mystical creatures escaping into our realm.

-Written, illustrated, and created by Gene Ha, a former understudy of Alan Moore, Mae promises to be one of Dark Horse‘s signature series.

-Epic in scope and raunchy in content, like Saga, Mae is the indy series you should check out this week.

-Famous Sci-Fi author William Gibson (Neuromancer) comes to comics!

-Following the complete irradiation of the planet, Earth’s population is forced to move into a machine called The Splitter that generates an alternate, digital reality.

-On art duties for the book is comics legend, Butch Guice (Captain America, Astro City, Superman)!

-Fans of series like East of West, Prophet, and Black Science should give this a look!

-Future Quest kicks off DC‘s relaunch of the Hana Barbara properties!

-Combining cartoon characters like Johnny Quest, Space Ghost, and the Herculoids, Future Quest constructs a universe and continuity around these beloved characters!

-When Johnny and Hadji discover an alien mystery in a swamp, they must team up with the universe’s other heroes forestall the threat and save the universe.

-Jeff Parker (Aquaman, Batman ’66, Hulk) joins forces with up-and-coming artist “Doc” Shaner (Convergence: Shazam, Multiversity, Darkseid War:  Green Lantern).

-After Convergence, the Pre-New 52 DC Universe is up for grabs!

-Last week’s Superman:  Lois and Clark #1 dropped some insane revelations about the original Superman still existing in the current DC Universe, so who knows what will be revealed in this maxiseries!

-Dan Abnett, writer of the fan favorite Guardians of the Galaxy and Annihilation series, is crafting this entire maxiseries.

-A mysterious woman named Lilith has been receiving visions about a Teen Titans team that no one else remembers.  Once Dick Grayson and the other original Titans are brought together, they will get to the bottom of this “lost” team.

All New All Different Marvel Week 3Astonishing Ant Man

-Continuing one of Marvel‘s true under-read titles, Astonishing Ant-Man #1 follows this summer’s surprise movie star, Scott Lang, as he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter and stay on the good side of the law.  That last part may be a little tough.

-Following up his hit Moon Knight run, Warren Ellis brings his talent for concise storytelling to Karnak, the deadliest Inhuman.

-Not specifically part of the ANAD release, but still a new one-shot from MarvelAgents of Atlas is one of the last Secret Wars tie-ins.

-The week’s major Marvel release is easily Uncanny Inhumans #1!  Written by Charles Soule (Inhuman, She-Hulk, Death of Wolverine, Secret Wars Civil War) elevates the newest characters being made popular by Agents of SHIELD.

-1602 Witch Hunter Angela #1 returns to Neil Gaiman’s alternate Marvel Universe with one of his original characters while Captain Marvel and the Carol CORPS #1 takes the place of the previous Captain Marvel series.

-Start your engines (Or horses.  Or centaur hooves?) for Ghost Racers #1 and go for the head shot in Marvel Zombies #1!

-Out with the old Constantine in with Constantine the Hellblazer, a darker, sordid take on the morally questionable magician.  This new series is written by Ming Doyle and James Tynion IV and drawn by Riley Rossmo (Rasputin, Cowboy Ninja Viking).

-After surviving Convergence, the alternate universe versions of Batman, Power Girl, Huntress, Green Lantern, and others thrive in Earth 2 Society #1!

-Best buds Red Hood and Arsenal take their guns-for-hire friendship on the road now that Starfire is heading out on her own in a solo ongoing series.

-Finally, Garth Ennis returns to the outcast vigilantes he created in the nineties, the loser heroes of Section 8, in the All Star Section 8 miniseries.  Members include Dogwelder, Bueno Excellente, and Jean de Baton-Baton!

Batman BeyondDC June Relaunch Wave 1

-Now that Convergence is over, DC has canceled nearly half of their line and are replacing it in June with about twenty-four new series!

-The first wave of these new titles release this week.  DC‘s directive with this relaunch is not to erase continuity, but to expand the tones and genres represented at the company.  Creative over homogeneity.

-The new titles out this week include Bat-Mite, Batman Beyond, Bizarro, Midnighter, and Omega Men.

-Returning series with new creative teams or storylines include Action Comics, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Justice League, and Lobo.

-With Secret Wars underway and the Rocket Raccoon series defunct, Marvel is filling that space with another member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

-In the vein of Spike Jonze’s film Adaptation and Grant Morrison’s Animal Man run, Image Comics launches the Airboy miniseries.

-A meta series at heart, Airboy is about the creation of itself.  Wait, what?

-Yes, writer James Robinson (Fantastic Four, Earth 2, Starman) has written himself into his own comic.  His struggles with adapting Airboy, a character from the forties, his personal life, and his addictions are detailed across the series.

-Oh, but wait!  It’s not that easy, as Airboy, himself, actually begins appearing in the real world and confronting Robinson.  Talk about bringing a character to life.

-With all of the main Marvel ongoing series going away, the Secret Wars tie-in miniseries continue to roll out.

-Also out is Giant Sized Little Marvel AvX (Skottie Young’s baby variants as a comic!), X-Tinction Agenda (Cable and the nineties are back in force!), and Years of Future Past (Kitty Pryde returns to the far flung future of the X-Men).

-McFarlane’s partner in launching this ongoing series is painterly artist extraordinaire, Clayton Crain (Carnage USA, X-Force, Rai)!

-Savior asks the question, “How would the real world react to a superpowered person showing up?”  No costume.  No code name.  Most view him as the second coming of Christ.  But is he a savior or a destroyer?

-Is Savior the next hit Image comic?  The next Walking Dead?  You only have to pay $2.99 to find out!

-Think of a prison.  Now think of that prison, but with the human prisoners replaced with giant, Godzilla-like creatures.

-Zander Cannon, a frequent inker and illustrator on Alan Moore’s Top 10, will be writing and drawing this Oni Press series!

-You know the standard prison yard beat down?  Well, in Kaijumax that plays more like the city destroying fights between Mothra, Godzilla, and Rodan!

-Also, expect to see some legally distinct, but familiar monster faces mixed in with Cannon’s own designs!

-Following in the footsteps of Marvel‘s successful and respected adaptations of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower and The Stand, the publisher turns its talents toward James Patterson’s young readers series of novels!

-Marguerite Bennett (Earth 2 World’s End, Lois Lane, Batman, A-Force) will be adapting Patterson’s work!

-Max and her peers have been experimented on by an evil corporation, who have spliced their DNA with that of birds.  These teens break free, however, and take wing to escape the corporation’s Erasers!

-After the popularity of the action figure Star Wars variant covers, Marvel is also releasing an action figure variant for issue #1 of Max Ride.  Unlike Star Wars, though, these will be sold at cover price!

DC Convergence Week 1Convergence Nightwing Oracle

-DC‘s reality spanning event begins in earnest this Wednesday!

-If you didn’t pick up Convergence #0 last week, it kicked off the backbone miniseries for the event, seeing Brainiac slam various alternate realities together so they can fight to the death.

-Each of the other series in this Convergence event will be two issues long, spanning from April to May.

-Launching this week are Atom, Batgirl, Batman & Robin, Harley Quinn, Justice League, Nightwing Oracle, Question, Speed Force, Superman, and Titans!
