Here Kitty KittyTonight, Pulp Fiction is announcing that we will no longer be selling comics or board games.  Instead, we will be exclusively selling cats and cat-related items.

Okay, that’s obviously an April Fool’s joke, but one that’s not far off.  Pulp has been getting barraged lately with cat themed games, including a couple this weekend.  First up, is Here, Kitty, Kitty!  In the game, your neighborhood is overrun with cuddly, furry felines, which means that everyone is in a frenzy to kidnap them.  Players take turns playing cards that move cats from the center of the table into their house marker.  Beware, though, because some cards can also steal cats from inside others’ houses.Tempurra Tem Purr A

Cat game number two, is Tem Purr A, a push-your-luck game about glutinous cats.  Taking place at an all cat Japanese eating contest, Tem Purr A has three to seven players laying down numbered cards to try and out-eat other players.  However, other players can shove food down your throat and possibly cause you Adventure Time Card Wars Fionna vs Cakeindigestion.  Even worse, pushing your luck too far can lead to death.

Our final cat game (though we have plenty of other human games) is the newest Adventure Time Card Wars collector’s pack.  Much beloved, Fionna and Cake finally receive their own decks!  Like other collector’s packs, Fionna and Cake comes with two completely built forty card decks, each centered around one of the titular characters.  Fans of Adventure Time who have never played Card Wars need not worry, the Fionna and Cake collector’s pack provides everything new players need to begin.Pax Porfiriana

Head on down Mexico way with the Pax Porfiriana Collector’s Edition.  Set before the Mexican Revolution, Pax Porfiriana is a competitive experience for one to six players, where everyone is attempting to take control of the country, using resources to tip the balance of power in their favor.  Use Pancho Villa’s bandits, political allies, pesos, and more to manipulate your way to the top.  This version of the game not only expands the experience for up to six players, but also includes two new gaming boards to help organize everything.

Greedy Greedy GoblinsFrom the makers of Smash-Up and more, AEG, comes Greedy Greedy Goblins.  A fast moving tile-laying game, Greedy Greedy Goblins is a competitive game, but one that has players drawing and laying tiles simultaneously.  Tiles are drawn and placed face down on each player’s respective cave board, then, once the tiles are depleted, players commence using dynamite and other tokens to mine their cave for loot.  If the name didn’t clue you in, the wealthiest goblin wins.Game of Thrones The Trivia Game

Before the next season premieres, brush up on your Game of Thrones knowledge with Fantasy Flight‘s new Game of Thrones:  The Trivia Game.  Set up similar to Trivial Pursuit, Game of Thrones:  The Trivia Game includes over 1200 cards, each with house-centric sets of questions from seasons one to four.  Players will have to ascend their way to the Iron Throne by answering particular progressions of house related questions to move up the board and attain glory.

Eminent Domain BattlecruisersEminent Domain claims plenty of territory this weekend with not one, but two releases.  Eminent Domain:  Exotica is an expansion for the base game that includes thirty tokens that present new technologies, a promo pack that allows players to combine Exotica with Escalation, and optional scenarios.  Eminent Domain:  Battlecruisers, the second release, is a completely stand-alone card game set in the universe.  Designed to be played in twenty minutes with three to five players, Battlecruisers is a bluffing game where cards that are played one turn can still effect the outcome a turn later.

We began with cute, cuddly kittens and we wrap up with terrifying, blood-curdling xenomorphs. Aliens vs Predator The Hunt Begins AVP:  The Hunt Begins is a ton of miniatures, tiles, tokens, and gaming goodness set in the Aliens/Predator universe.  Players take control of either Alien, Predator, or Ultra Marine forces, navigating a dangerous space station.  Each force is gunning for the other, with all of them represented by detailed miniatures.  A gorgeously designed, intricate experience, AVP:  The Hunt Begins is essential for any avid fan of the franchise needs to own.

Star Wars RebellionStar Wars.  Fantasy Flight.  Rebellion.  It’s freaking huge.  You know you want it.  Outside of that, Star Wars:  Rebellion is a massive miniature war game that pits the Empire and Rebellion forces against each other across a galaxy far, far away.  Both forces are represented by carefully crafted miniatures of the Death Star, Star Destroyers, A-Wings, X-Wings, and much, much more.  Balance your forces, choose how to deploy them, and dominate or free the galaxy.  The choice is yours.

Munchkin Christmas LiteWith the holiday season just beginning in earnest this weekend, it’s time to start thinking about that one important question that everyone raises during the season:  can you play Munchkin?  Okay, maybe not the most important question, but still valid.  Well, Steve Jackson games has made it easier than ever to get into Munchkin with Munchkin Christmas Lite.  An inexpensive deck of Christmas themed cards, Christmas Lite has all of the Munchkin Kittensmaterials for three or four players to learn the basics of Munchkin.

Possibly the greatest Munchkin expansion ever, Munchkin Kittens is on shelves this weekend!  Included in this booster expansion are thirty adorable kitty cards illustrated comic artist Katie Cook that can be incorporated into any of the Munchkin base games.

Bottlecap VikingsBottlecap Vikings may seem like a cross between Fallout and the popular television show (which would be pretty great), but, instead, it is a fun, family friendly resource management game.  In Bottlecap Vikings you will sail, loot, and plunder your way around a bottlecap shaped game board.  Build your village and gain glory until the Valkyries come to claim the fallen across a variable action rondel, two victory conditions, and individual player ability trees.Melee

Styled after 16-byte video games of yore and a pinch of Minecraft, Melee is an army battle game for two to four players.  In the world of Melee, the king has died without an heirs to the throne.  Each player will control one of four different armies (each sitting astride either a parrot, mouse, pig, or dinosaur), fighting from their own castle, to attain the throne.  You will use money and other Operation Faustresources to build your armies and pit them against each other to decide ultimate dominance.

Think Coup or Bang! during WWII and you’ve got Operation F.A.U.S.T., a new deception game from Grey Fox Games.  In this highly social game, players will find themselves in occupied France during WWII, tasked with a mission to recover Europe’s most valuable pieces of art before they are looted by Hitler.  To win the game you must gather intelligence, locate Europe’s most at risk treasures, and recover them before your opponents.  Use your network of spies, double agents, and more to achieve your goals, but take care not to reveal information to others.Bomb Squad

Remaining on the field of battle, but updating it to a modern era, Bomb Squad is a cooperative game with high stakes.  In Bomb Squad players control members of the Retro City Bomb Squad, and their trusty bomb disposal robots in order to defeat dastardly villains that threaten the world.  Help program a robot to navigate buildings, rescue hostages, and defuse bombs in real time.  You cannot see your hand of Command cards, so you’ll have to help your partners figure out which cards to play.  Using a special timer app, the game plays out in real time, with bombs going off every ten minutes unless you defuse them!

TerraCombining a party game experience with factual trivia, Terra pits players against each other in a competition where being close counts.  Faced with world trivia questions like “How long is the Golden Gate Bridge?” or “How many sculptures are on Easter Island?” players will attempt to make educated guesses, marking them with cubes on a slider.  If you don’t know the answer, use your opponents knowledge against them by guessing just a little bit less or more than what they do.  It can’t hurt, as being closer is the goal.

Aperture Science welcomes players to a board-based cake acquisition enrichment activity, Portal the board game.  Yes, Cryptozoic and Valve have adapted the popular Portal video game series into a board gaming experience.  Players control test subjects who are attempting Portal board gameto traverse the testing lab, represented by a modular board, using high tech portal guns.  Tiles will fall off the board over the course of the game, causing players to leap forward as fast as they can in hopes of not getting caught in a disappearing tile.  And at the end:  cake!  Of course, the cake is a lie, so Cryptozoic has given you an exclusive Steam redemption Warhammer Quest Adventure Card Gamecode for Portal 2 instead.

Fantasy Flight does what the company is best at by remaking and relaunching the classic Warhammer Quest the Adventure Card Game.  This card game is a cooperative game of heroic dungeon adventures for one to four players.  Players assume the roles of some of the Old World’s most iconic heroes, then venture into the shadows to battle goblins, trolls, orcs, ghouls, ratmen, and other creatures.  Can you survive their relentless onslaught?  There are only two ways for your quest to end – in death or in glory!

Anything Finn can do, Fionna can do better.  And in knee socks.

The highly successful Adventure Time comic series gains another tie-in miniseries this Wednesday!  Written by co-creator and storyboard artist from the television show, Natasha Allegri, Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake brings the girl power!  Spinning out of a stand-alone episode where the regular protagonists, Finn and Jake, where gender bent into women, this miniseries gives them the spotlight for six whole issues!  As the previous Adventure Time series have sold out as fast as the Ice Queen sliding down a snowy slope, if you want a copy be sure to put your name on the pull before Wednesday or be at the store early!

Vampires have been the new hotness for quite some time now, but they’ve never been Marvel NOW!  Uh, until now.

With this week’s Morbius, the Living Vampire #1, another of Spidey‘s villains gets an empathetic make over.  After breaking out of The Raft prison in Spider-Man #699.1, Michael Morbius is attempting to find his inner good guy and satisfy his natural hunger.  Written by Joe Keatinge, up-and-coming author of Hell Yeah and Glory for Image Comic, the first issue showcases his unique blend of stylistic indy paneling and catchy, quick dialog as well as moody horror.  As is often the case, C-list characters commonly make for the best reads at the big two comic companies (for evidence, see Swamp Thing and Hawkeye), given that the writers have a leeway to put the characters through their paces in ways that the A-list characters can’t be.  Trust me, it won’t suck.  Except, you know, in the ways that a vampire book should.

The other Marvel NOW! release for this next week is Johnathon Hickman’s Avengers companion book, New Avengers #1. Like FF to Fantastic Four, this series will share characters with the main title, as well as some plot elements, making them a shared story, of sorts.  And if you’ve read Hickman’s first issue of Avengers or any of his Manhattan Projects series, you know he’s capable of giant sci-fi craziness and incredible plot twists, both qualities which he will bring to characters of New Avengers.  Starring The Illuminati, the secretive, behind-the-scenes puppet masters of the Marvel Universe, the series will feature Black Panther, Iron Man, Reed Richards, Namor, Doctor Strange, Black Bolt, and Beast desperately struggling to halt the collision of two universes.  And fans of the New Universe concept of yesteryear should take note, as it’s rumored to return in this book.

Thanks to a little timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly stuff, the third series of Doctor Who Character Builder Miniatures materializes in the store this Wednesday!  Yes, we know series two hasn’t arrived yet, but, you know, time travel.  Anyway, it really doesn’t matter as each set features different characters or key characters in unique costumes.  Set three includes the Doctor in his fancy green longcoat (circa season five), Amy with Silence marks on her face, an alternate universe Rory, River Song, an Ood, and many more (check them all out to the right).  Each figure is compatible with Lego’s, if you wish to build your own Doctor Who adventure set, or feel free to pick up one of Doctor Who Character Builder playsets currently at the store.
