Bioshock InfiniteOne of the most popular video game experiences of the last ten years comes to the world of board gaming.  Bioshock Infinite:  The Siege of Columbia has recently been released by Plaid Hat Games.  A miniature based battle game, players take on the roles of the Vox Populi and the Founders, controlling each faction with sets of miniatures ripped directly from the video game.  That means you’ll commanded Booker Dewitt, Elizabeth, and Songbird as  you attempt to take control of Columbia, Colossal Caveblock by block.

Adapting classic text-based computer gaming into a board game format, Colossal Cave is a dungeon crawl card game.  The main rule is drawn one, play one, but the actions are in service of exploring and pilfering a cave of treasures.  Players use a basic, fourteen room map to move from room to room and gathering and search for treasure with their Serpent Stonecards.  Whoever drops three treasures in the Well House reigns victorious!

Based off the design of a six hundred year old Aztec game, Serpent Stones attempts to recreate the game as closely to the original as possible.  Reminiscent of chess, players control opposing Aztec armies that are attempting to capture each other’s mystical stones.  Soldiers can utilize the power of the gods in order to capture obstructing Plasma Obliteratoropponents on their way to obtaining the stones.

The heavily allocated Plasma Obliterator miniature for Warhammer 40K is out this weekend.  Each store has only been able to receive a single miniature, meaning these are Netrunner The Valley Data Packhighly, highly sought after and rare.

The epicenter of Netrunner‘s bioengineering empire, The Valley, comes to the Netrunner Deckbuidling Game with the newest Data Pack expansion.  The sixty card expansion contains assets, region upgrades, genetic resources, as well as an entirely new Jinteki identity.

After a bit of a lag period, the Ascension deck building game is back with another stand-alone Ascension Dawn of Championsexpansion, Dawn of Champions.  Following the destruction of the six major realms, a single one, New Vigil, has arisen.  Players control a faction leader, each with their own unique abilities to unlock monster and construct cards as well as powers and effects that only they can use.  Like previous Ascension games, Dawn of Champions plays quickly (around thirty minutes) and comfortably from one to four players.

Firefly Role Playing Game RPG Core BookTake its love, take its land, but you can’t take roleplaying from Firefly.

A revamped version of the previous Firefly RPG, this new hardcover core book utilizes an updated version of the Cortex Plus System.  Players are thrown out into the black, given the chance to play members of a Firefly crew crusin’ the verse and misbehaving.  Every episode of the series is detailed in this hardcover, acting as adventures groups can play through.  An entirely new “episode” is also presented as a fourteenth adventure.Cypher

Another AEG produced, Love Letter-like quick card game has hit the scene and it is Cypher.  At its core, Cypher is a drafting game, with players starting out with either three, two, or one card in hand.  Each turn, players draw, play, and trade a card, with everyone attempting to be the person holding the highest value card at the end of the game.  When the draw pile runs out (or a special endgame card is played) the game ends.

Lords of XiditLords of Xidit is the newest release from Asmodee Games and it sends the player to a fantastical realm of lizard riding knights and magically possessed townsfolk.  Each player controls the equivalent of a knight, wandering the countryside in hopes of curing the dark mysticism that has overrun it.  In order to do so, players race to sections of the board where they will collect squires and resources.  The catch is, it’s all about timing, as only certain resources will be given out depending on the order of when a player arrives.  Abyss

Set in a Bioshock-ish, Rapture-esque underwater city, Abyss, from Asmodee, is a game of influence and power struggle with a little card drafting thrown in.  Featuring four different styles of box art, Abyss requires players to compete for influence on the council of lords.  In order to do this, players must work through a three stage process, first gaining allies, then using them to influence lords, then using the lords to take over sections of the city.  Cards are drafted that allow Tammany Hallplayers to work through these steps, but, beware, once a card’s power is used that ability is closed off forever.

And speaking of corruption and political influence, there’s nearly no greater historical instance of political power plays than New York’s Tammany Hall!  In this backstabby game of underhanded favor buying, players fight to earn the votes of recent immigrants as means of acquiring the mayoral seat.  However, don’t expect to hold on to it for long, as everyone will be at the ready double cross you and take it.Through the Breach Fate Master's Almanac Wyrd RPG

Malifaux, the cult hit steampunky, horror, little bit of everything miniature game, is being converted into a roleplaying system this weekend.  Two core rulebooks, one for players and one for game masters, arrive this weekend.  First up is The Fate Almanac softcover, the essential guidebook for players, containing all the pertinent information about how to create and run a Fated character.  The accompanying rulebook is the Trains Rising SunFatemasters Almanac, the essential guide running a game set in the Malifaux universe.

AEG‘s third gaming release this weekend is an expansion/standalone addition to the Trains board game.  Trains Rising Sun can be incorporated into the original version or played on its own.  Included this edition are three entirely new game boards, one for head-to-head play and two for two to four players.  Legendary Guardians of the Galaxy

Time for everyone to do the whole standing up in a circle thing, because Guardians of the Galaxy is the newest expansion to the Legendary card game.  This expansion adds on character cards for everyone of the Guardians, including Star Lord, Gamorra, Rocket, Drax, and Groot as well as villain decks for the Kree Supreme Intelligence and Thanos!
