Possibly you’re the kind of comic fan with refined tastes. You enjoy your caviar black, your bourbon warm, and your Rolls Royce.

If you share in respectable tastes such as those you might be inclined to pick up a copy of Thief of Thieves, a sequential periodical penned by two gentlemen of leisure known as Robert Kirkman and Nick Spencer. These two have earned the gentleman title through a succession of highly successful books, namely Walking Dead and Invincible for Mr. Kirkman and Morning Glories, Infinite Vacation, and Thunder Agents for Mr. Spencer. A classic heist scenario, Thief of Thieves is about a father who lives a secret life as a master thief…but maybe not for long, as the FBI is closing in. Sharpen your comic palette by giving Thief of Thieves a chance.

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, we have the first issue of Adventure Time. Based off the popular, trippy Cartoon Network show, Adventure Time the comic is written by Ryan North of Dinosaur Comics webcomic acclaim. The Land of Ooo will be torn asunder during the first few issues as an old enemy returns, ready to stomp all over the lives of Finn and Jake. It’s gonna be lumpin’ amazerin!

And now a little item for those in the audience enjoy the ability to drink.

Normally, a pint glass with Batman plastered on it would be reason enough to get excited and drop some bank, but what if I told you this one had a Batmobile on it too.

And the phrase, “Wanna come to my Bat Cave?”

And “Chicks dig the ride!”

I think the appropriate answer would be, “Holy Bat Glass, Batman!”

Lastly, tonight, a creator shift change for a great book that’s been flying under the radar lately.

That book is Secret Avengers, which has, of late, been written by Warren Ellis (If you haven’t picked it up, do so. Some of the best one issue stories I’ve ever read.), but will now be written by popular Venom and Uncanny X-Force writter, Rick Remender. Not only does the book get a writing make over, but a couple new members join the team, too. Namely, Captain Britain and Hawkeye. Wait one more issue and you’ll also get the added benefit of Venom joining the team. With Remender’s credentials from Uncanny X-Force, primarily in the violence and sensation aspects, this version of the Secret Avengers should be insane action all the time.

Magic the Gathering, now in comic flavor.

Yup, coming with special playable promo cards, the new Magic the Gathering series from IDW will not only give its readers free swag, but the tale behind the Planeswalkers and worlds of the famous CCG. Collect all four issues to follow the story and acquire each of the limited edition cards featured in the book.

If you enjoy your comic series inventively insane, then you’re in luck with the new Xombi trade paperback. John Rozum spins a yarn full of regenerating superheroes, shrinking nuns, undead trick-or-treaters, floating skull-shaped islands, and bad@$$ Rabies. If those ideas alone don’t hook you, a little background information might. Xombi is a lazy, slacker vigilante who gets drawn into a world of mystical hi-jinks revolving around the chase for a lost fortress in the sky. But the piece de resistance of this little miniseries is the artwork. Completely illustrated by Frazer Irving (Gutsville, Batman & Robin, Return of Bruce Wayne, etc.) in his famous painterly style, this book is simply gorgeous!

Though the Superman Ice Cube Trays from a couple weeks ago are sweet, but the primary question I get asked about them is, “Do they make a Batman one?”

Usually I just guess and say, “Yeah, probably, but it’s not out yet.” Well, the guessing is over. As of this Wednesday, there will be Batman Ice Cube Trays in the world. Of course, that also means they will disappear about as fast as they appear.

Finally, we’ll end with a little moment of statue zen. Enjoy.

Last night we had a special guest host in the form of Game Stuff Robot, but tonight we will be talking about his extended family. Who also, as it goes, have the ability to speak.

That’s right, if you think genocidal trash cans who want to conquer the universe are just the cutest thing around, then you’re going to love snuggling with the Red Dalek Plush. Not only is he/she/it(?) lovable as hell, but also quite vocal. With familiar phrases such as “EXTERMINATE!”, “YOU ARE AN ENEMY OF THE DALEKS, YOU MUST BE DESTROYED!”, and other exclamatory phrases such as that. Share your love with an plunger-handed alien today!

IDW really needs to contact an exterminator, because they are infested again. If you read the first series (Infestation) where a number of IDW‘s famous characters faced off against zombies, then you’ll be prepared for this go around where they battle Cthulhu and his minions. But who are the “they” this time around? Well, the Transformers and G.I. Joes return (this time from the famous Heart of Steel universe), but are joined by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Danger Girls, characters from the Dungeons & Dragons universe, and 30 Days of Night. Not sure about you, but I can’t even imagine the epicness of all these characters crossing over with one another!  You’ll just have to pick up Infestation II #1 to prove to your brain it’s real.

Speaking of epic awesomeness, the new hardcover collection of Geoff Johns and James Robinson’s oft forgot Hawkman run hits shelves Wednesday. Though the book doesn’t get mentioned in the same breath as JSA or Green Lantern or Justice League, it should be. Johns and Robinson both delve into Hawkman‘s backstory, streamlining it, and setting him against ancient evils and buried baddies. With artwork from Rags Morales (New 52′s Action Comics), Hawkman pops with violent, emotive visuals along with the Indiana Jones-esque story lines. If you’ve enjoyed what Johns has been doing on Justice League or Aquaman currently, then you should check the origin of his writing style in the Hawkman Omnibus.

Finally, tonight, possibly the book I’m more excited about than any other this year, the first volume of the new ongoing Avatar the Last Airbender comic. Dark Horse is choosing an unusual, yet fitting, format for this book by releasing them as thick digest volumes over the next couple of months. This first volume is called The Promise (Part 1 of a trilogy) and it catalogs events that occur after the end of the series involving Aang, Katara, Sakka, and Zuko working to keep political unrest at a minimum for fear of starting another war. These stories will all bridge the gap between the old series and the new Legend of Korra sequel to premiere on Nickelodean this year. If you’re a fan of the show like me, then you’ll just be happy to feed your addiction for Avatar material, no matter the format.
